Era al mediodía cuando, sin querer, viajé,
no puedo explicarlo ni cómo se desencadenó.
Solo vi luces delante mío y todo se silenció,
me vi mirando un cielo negro y rojo sangre.

Una voz me dijo: “No hay agua.”
Fue entonces que bajé la mirada,
y estaba la tierra seca y agrietada,
la tierra estaba muerta y desolada.

Delante mío había un grupo de personas,
alzaban las manos al cielo y clamaban,
clamaban y clamaban por agua,
porque algo por dentro las quemaba.

Se percataron de mi presencia,
yo era una observadora de esa escena,
pero cuando me miraron los sentí por dentro,
era un dolor, desesperación y abandono...
nunca vi ni sentí algo parecido.

Volví a mi sitio preguntándome
cómo ellos pudieron verme,
pero lo que más me impactó fue sentirlos,
sentir su llanto y su súplica muda,
y saber que pedían ayuda…
y yo no podía hacer nada.

El silencio aún pesa en mi pecho,
como si el fuego no se hubiera ido.
Y cada vez que cierro los ojos,
vuelvo a ver ese cielo encendido…

Las calles, los rostros, los gritos,
las banderas, el polvo, el ruido…
todo ardiendo, todo perdido…

Y comprendí…
que lo que vi ,
era Madrid, la de España.

If I don’t fly
like the arrow
that I am,
what is my purpose here?

I came 
as column to the infinite.
My roots are strong,
but my sap rises
to catch stars 
in my branches.

You too say to me,
from deep knowing,
with love and care,
to bend my spine,
bring down the branches,
so they may grow
closer to earth. 

Many live here,
some even thrive,
and any stumble
from shallow heights
is no Icarus falling
with molten wings.

Yet a tree answers only
to the call of heights.
If you find it lying
on the ground,
then it is rotting.

Not for me alone
am I pushed up the vertical —
but for the saplings
looking around
to choose their destiny.
What should it be?
Grass, shrub, oak tree?
Half genes, half choice.
Half Grace.

Even if they came
to sever my trunk,
my branches 
are long woven
into the orbits of stars.
