A very special show tonight.  We kick off with a compilation of tracks provided by Dertie Basset, Underground Calling, 12-Bit, J.O.T, Amiga Juglism, Xtra Spice Mikey and Si Goes Retro. These tracks are fresh but not as you know it. These guys produced an album on cassette with new Jungle tracks made on authentic hardware with the vibes to match, we're talking, Amigas running Oktamed, Protracker, Ataris running the old Akai samplers etc..  I was out of my comfort zone mixing these but I had so much fun playing them because they're all banging and take me right back to where my journey began and you will have just as much fun listening to them!

Episode 457 brings us a mix from R-Hawk!

R-Hawk's mix is full of classics from the golden era of jungle, amazing selection, expertly mixed, such a VIBE on this one!! This one will be getting tons of rewinds!

Let's meet our dj for episode 457, R-Hawk:
Robbie Hawkings, or R-Hawk for short, is a Bristol based DJ with 30 years behind the decks. 



First, learning to play at home in the early 90's, he shortly landed a regular spot at the UFO Club, held at the Longleat Estate near Warminster, as a warm up DJ in 1995. The UFO Club was known for having big acts roll through; from Grooverider and Jumping Jack Frost, to other acts, like Carl Cox and Eat Static. 



Moving to Sheffield in 1996, he continued playing regular shows, starting with the Corporation night club from 1999 to 2000, and then back in Bristol played at various club parties in venues like Thekla and Lakota, opening for The Insiders at TimBuk2 for Intrigue’s 2nd birthday party, and more recently, parties for Western Lore, Dissonance, Optimystic & Friends and Jungle on Wax.



R-Hawk's been playing on internet radio for around 7 years; his first few shows on GlobalDnB.com in 2015, then with OnlyOldSkoolRadio.com, where he's maintained a weekly show since 2018 and also joining the DJ roster for jungletrain.net in 2020 with his fortnightly Xpresha show. 



He's also part of the crew for a Facebook Group called, "The Junglist_list" or TJL for short, which is collective mix of EDM, embracing the sounds of Hardcore, Jungle, Drum and Bass, Acid, Techno, House, and more.

"R-Hawk's selection preferences range from works originating in '92, all the way to present day, but for this podcast he has focused on old skool jungle."

DJ MAFS is no new comer to the scene, with him pumping out numerous mixes over the years, that really take the listener on a journey with the selections involved. The History of Jungle Show EP139 feat. FFF - 28.04.20

Shaun aka Limited Budget Drum n Bass producer/DJ based in the Midlands, United Kingdom who has been learning, experimenting and producing various forms of electronic music for over 20 years. Styles vary from House, Garage, Drum and Bass, Break Beat, Orchestral/Piano and more. 
I was exposed to music at a very young age as my parents were writers & performers. My dad started me off on brass and keys which gave me a kick start.  In my teens I took a keen interest in percussion/drums, around the same time Drum and Bass was making a name for itself.  I knew then that my dream was to create music like this.  Sadly, the kit required to do it at the was not available to me, so armed with only an ATARI 1040 and a Roland JV30, I did what I could to learn instead.  
By the time I had the basics to produce half decent tracks I was already deep in the everyday rat race of life and working full time.  I have limited time, limited focus, limited capacity and a limited budget, but I am pushing myself now to get my music out there, some new, some may come from the hundreds of projects I’ve worked on over the years.  Either way, don’t expect a consistent genre or style, I’ll release whatever I can that fits the mood I’m in, hoping you’ll enjoy this new journey with me. 
My debut release, Shit Got Real is a new track I wrote in a very short time after a sudden loss of a close friend, the catalyst to the drive I now have.
