Let's allow Dad have some too. I remember this like a video 35 years later... I was around 10.. I insulted my Mum and Dad calmly came over and said, "Carl, how can you say that.. Mum is the only person in the world that would give her life for you..." Straight away I knew he meant he would do that also" The best teachers of love planet Earth has EVER seen. No acceptions.. They made me the luckiest human being that's ever existed too and that's one belief I will keep. My true Gods and creators. My parents and their parents. Thanks reproduction!

It is my eh em... Belief... with the acception of the above... that belief should change all the time. I find it hard to hold any beliefs too close for too long as for thousands of years billions and billions of human beings still haven't fully explained the universe or the sea or most occurrences fully. Belief like everything does and should evolve all the time. So this is a song to drill that into my head forever haha 😆 or until I change my belief 🤔

So I guess I'm saying maybe be careful to not hold onto beliefs that reflect false realities as in my opinion they completely limit your thinking about the real world we experience. Believe in being alive, life and the amazing reasons we can actually ponder this existence with. It's way more amazing then believing in illusionary ideas 💡 We still have loads of room to evolve spirituality from this foundation.

Did three live runs playing along to the previous recording each time. It's a good reason to hold onto an older phone or have that handy no effort live mic/memory /speaker device.. Having two you can handily setup live mic and playback and you can record an idea anywhere and build pretty cool live mic sessions fairly fast and while the idea is most fresh in your head... the moment you make it. A good exercise for playing to your instinct

Play back Phone 2 and Record on Phone 1

etc etc... an effortless daw like / live sounding result to bring to your actual daw and deliver it there with arguably a lot less thought and effort

The original recording process is also less screen distraction. On your DAW its harder to avoid screen. You can turn the phones over and leave them play / record and its square lights out. In my opinion this is important as screens are our trigger for the monotony of the matrix that is the internet.  Me included most of us have used it as this super handy tool and ignored the subliminal information we get fed all the time... So even if we are not being live fed it during the creative process I believe there could still be detrimental triggers involved which may hinder your creative side. I need to research this more but its basically how our brain and it's subconscious is triggered by norms (doing monotonous things on streaming sites) So i suggest we should be endeavouring to create an environment that flicks the correct switches... our creative ones and for many of us... screens don't do that regularly enough to be an inspiration and maybe they are not our best creative trigger. I guess thats another reason a pen/pencil is good to use... Maybe that helps trigger yourself from using it in school... always an ultra creative time in most lucky peoples lives

Break to Break

Jeff and I are happy to present our first live arena gig! Not really, but you can imagine.  This one started when Jeff was telling me about how he and Jo (sonic structures and silent stretches ) were writing some of their poetry in a stream off consciousness style, writing a line and then handing it off back and forth until it was done.   I suggested maybe we try something like that with the guitars.   So we did.  We exchanged ideas until it felt done and here's where we landed.   
This one was a lot of fun to pull together and really just kind of not think about it as we wrote.

Jonathon is a fabulous writer and carver of music. My Grandad was a fabulous poet. In one of his poems he reflects on his writing about the desire to achieve economy of line in poetry and this is what truly makes it poetic, the skillful use of minimal words. One note... A buddy just said to me man we are just vessels for songs and if the song wants life it picks one of us. I had never given it too much thought, but this song feels that way at the moment 

I might finally find a straight jacket with this rabbit hole... Music has consciousness Hmmmm... Or better imagined... Could it actually have some pre existing universal intent of some kind which we merely channel...

Plenty of my songs seem alien to me right after I make them as if they came from somewhere else. I know that sounds crazy but I do note the feeling when it's there and move on

Forbidden Solace


I am drawn to folk, blues, soft rock, and country music, new and old. I love songs that tell a story, especially the Irish, English, and Scottish ballads of long ago because their stories are often timeless, and most everyone at any time can relate to. 
 
I also am a pastel painter and find being able to express universal emotions through my art, as well as writing lyrics and putting them to music that I can sing and play on my guitar or ukelele so rewarding and comforting.

Memories of people, places, and events throughout my life influence the songs I write.
