With three EPs and an A-Sides cut to his name, Marco Faraone has been an invaluable label contributor, dating back to his Drumcode debut in 2013. The Italian remains one of scene’s most versatile producers, a torchbearer of both house and techno and able to craft both with masterful ease. Coming off two albums in 2020, his inspired form rolls on throughout ’21, with ‘Our Freedom’, his memorable fourth EP contribution to Adam Beyer’s label.

‘Burn Down’ is an evocative vocal-led trip, made just as much for the headphones as the dancefloors of the future. Led by layers of laser-kissed riffs and a resistance-leading vocal, the title track is an emotion-charged anthem-in-the-making. ‘Orbital’ has bags of personality and pep, bringing the vibe to a more optimistic place, with a silky melody line and plenty of effortless groove. ‘Magic Sunset’ is the cream on top; the percussion pulsating and punchy, as cascades of goosebump-inducing synths unfurl beautifully throughout the six-minute jam.

We’ve got some fresh new music from Fuinneamh Festival founder Lucas. The revered producer is known for his powerful and deep cuts, finding inspiration in dub chords, deep pads and textured atmospheres. His track ‘Cosmic Background’ is an atmospheric trip through wandering chords and deep soundscapes.

Luke Reddy aka ‘LUCAS has been producing electronic music and DJing since 2011. Luke’s early years as an artist were not your run of the mill, first cutting his teeth performing at his own events which took place in the forest, open air events and raves, deep in the Wicklow mountains, these legendary parties became known as the ‘Keep Her Lit’ series.

Lucas disappeared somewhat off the DJ radar in 2015, when his ambitious plans for Fuinneamh Festival year one began, but with DJ sets in the summer of 2019 at EP, Body & Soul and at Fuinneamh we saw Lucas make a resurgence into the Irish DJ scene once again.

Lucas founded a new record label ‘Ogma’ in 2021 and it started with a E.P. with himself and Snakebite 616 the release received huge international and local support from the likes of Freddy K, Ed Davenport aka Inland, Elad Magdasi, Cici, Cailín, Mylo Spykers, Jon Hester, Taint, Aeron, Diarmaid O’Meara and more. The label will return for it’s second release this summer.

Lucas has provided a deep and driving techno masterpiece. This reminds me of some classic ‘Function’ releases, but has Lucas’s own spin on it. A big pounding kick plays of deep and whirling atmosphere, as drifting chords provide an entrancing kind of melody. This is a proper techno.

Israeli artist Kino Todo continues to put himself in the spotlight with an innovative new EP on DJ Tennis's Life And Death that features a track with countrymen Red Axes. 

Todo's multicultural sounds on Jenia Tarsol’s and Chaim’s Blue Shadow records, where he released his first ep with hit banger “Gidafi Na” as well as on Moscoman’s Disco Halal have made him one of the most promising new artists in the scene. He is someone with a psyched out style that fuses long, drawn out drum machine rhythms with intoxicating synths as well as influences from prog and rock. His music is colourful and charming and always refreshingly original. His last release, 'Yasmin', was his biggest yet, but this new offering shows another mature evolution for such a young artist. 

Opener 'Goa Kids' is a bristling and uplifting arrangement that is always on the move. It comes on strong with a percussive jumble of hits and tambourines that ride in loose fashion over a surging groove. Warm, rich bass pumps down low, enchanting flutes and youthful vocal chants all get you locked and take you on a charming trip. The lively 'Paradox' is a more broken beat, with twisted synths and sci-fi sound effects all underpinned by booming kicks as alien vocals are layered in with sirens and pixelated pads. It is a fantastic collision of musical worlds. 

The vital 'Vocus Pocus' is a Middle Eastern rave that overflows with musical imagery, ghoulish vocals, juddering kicks and retro-future synth lasers that prepare you for take off. Last of all, the esteemed Red Axes duo join the party for 'Boom Shaki Boom', a tripped out and freaky cut of Israeli acid techno that is riddled with edgy pads and intergalactic sounds. 

These are complex and characterful tracks that draw on a wide range of cultural references and reimagine them as dance floor dynamite.

Vocus Pocus

A pair of techno stalwarts unite for their debut collaboration.

An auspicious release for label and artists alike, Pig&Dan and Gregor Tresher have both been delivering quality techno productions for almost two decades. Tresher is a prolific and deeply respected member of the German techno scene responsible for iconic tracks such as a 'A Thousand Nights' and 'Goliath'. His debut on Truesoul was certainly fated. Pig&Dan need no introduction, as one of the label's most consistent and valued contributors, coming off a lush two-tracker 'Telegraphy' released in January.

The artists' connection goes back almost as far as their discographies. Birthed during lockdown, 'Challenger' is their inaugural production link up. The title track is a progressive-tinged bubbler that builds to a celestial crescendo. 'Granular' is an immersive trip, as a drone-like wall of sound meshes with glistening synths, conjuring up an evocative atmosphere akin to a futuristic film soundtrack.
