Can It Be A Real Thing

This is Third in a series of Poems That Jo Richter has so Generously let me use. Anyone that has ever tried to write lyrics for a song, knows that good lyrics are hard to come by.  When i first read jo's poems, it was and is a cathartic experience. I hope i made a good song out of this GREAT Poem..

OLD SONG

Met the girl that Dürer drew
Spoke in dreams she did to you
Spoke of morphic co-creation
But, alas, she's no relation
Of the mage that has no clue

Took a girl to a ball on the moon
Where Milton's soul served on a dune
Had some bourbon, died of fear
Prophets wailed but dear queen Lear
Had no mercy on the loon

Venus painted on her bed
Sipped from grails of liquid lead
Do you believe, she asked, in rest
Or restauration, no man's quest
Will shroud the beauty of the dead

Was addressed on Stromboli
By a girl with eyes to see
Colours flared and clouds dispersed

This is another medley of off the cuff, rough and raw live recordings strung together from the past with an added vocal harmony track. They’re all cover songs done with acoustic guitar and pretty much unadulterated, for better or worse. This one is a bit shorter than my last entry of a similar effort, figuring it might hold listeners interest a little better if not too strung out. Nothing fancy, background noise and lo-fi but a bit of live fun to share as if you were just stopping by the house for a beer...hope you like barrel-aged barleywines and double IPAs! 🍻
