My hands do the dishes,

I went to the market, 
to buy a loaf of bread

with death marked on her head.

in order to escape all the spiders that will catch you,

The nonsense that we speak, comes out as poetry, 
and all the poetry could be written in one week 
we'd never have think about it again
If I could take away all the sad music in the world, 
it wouldn't keep us from crying.

in their fleshy sleeves, 
who is this person that I'm pretending to be?

Well, the best kind of deception is when you hurt yourself.
and the best kind of reception is recieved by someone else
and time it keeps on ticking like a bomb inside the hallway,

God alone within your crazed misfortune

sick and married, misbehaved,
 searching through the city or some shelter, 
and in the evening's dying heat:
 a mouth a tongue two hands two feet,
 reaching for the body of a lover. 
and naked on someone else's stage 
we are merely but a page in your old diary now.

We don't have to clutch so tightly, 
the whites of our knuckles would be so unsightly

like raindrops on the window of your bedroom?

thinking of the kisses you used to make?
Was it a personal or friendly affair?
did you give it your all, but nothing was there?

but what is it all?  is it yours to give?
