SEVEN House Mix 016: Lola Kay

En nuestra segunda edición tenemos a DIO. 

DIO es una apasionada del techno con más de una década de trayectoria en la escena underground. Su sonido, influenciado por el Acid, Detroit Techno, la ha posicionado como una de las figuras más destacadas de la música electrónica en Costa Rica. Con una energía arrolladora en cada set, fusiona ritmos intensos y atmósferas hipnóticas, llevando al público a un viaje sonoro imparable. Además, es co-fundadora de Hyper e Insurrectx, proyectos colaborativos con los que se encuentra activamente trabajando para fortalecer la comunidad raver.

Les invitamos leer esta pequeña entrevista que le hicimos a DIO:

- ¿Qué te motivó a ser Dj?

Curiosidad en primera instancia, o mi constante búsqueda de un propósito en la vida, jk! - considero que fue una combinación de factores, recuerdo la afinidad que tuve en la infancia con el trance, luego en la adolescencia mi primo alias Ultratrance, me introdujo al mundo del psytrance y esas fueron mis primeras fiestas… ya cuando era legal, mi club de preferencia era Retrovisor, y en una noche increíble vi por primera vez a una mujer mezclando y ese fue mi click supongo.

 - ¿Qué consejo le darías a alguien que está empezando a ser Dj?

Leer, ser curioso, investigar… en lo personal siento que esto fue fundamental para que finalmente, después de muchos años lograra encontrar un sonido que se alinea más a lo que quiero expresar.  Por otra parte, no pasa nada con ser principiante, todos lo fuimos, no se tiene que saber todo de una vez,  solo ser constante con el desarrollo de habilidades en mezcla, una cuidadosa selección musical, recibir el feedback con humildad y tomar lo que te funcione.  Y por otro lado, involucrarse con la comunidad, colaborar, apoyar etc…


- ¿Cuál crees que es uno de los principales retos en la escena Techno en CR?

Creo que el principal reto es la falta de espacios que sean destinados para este género principalmente, no sería increíble tener nuestra versión de un club de Berlin? Jaja Pero si en definitiva la falta de espacios es una limitante para las productoras y artistas.

Tete — The Heart of the Machine
They say that at the dawn of the fall, while the last lights of the old world were still flickering, one man survived in a subterranean capsule — a man more connected to rhythm than to breath. His name was Tete.

His journey began long before the catastrophe, in an age when sound was an art, not a weapon. Back then, he was a master of mixing, an architect of vibration, and a wanderer across genres now forgotten by most. But even as the world crumbled, Tete remained loyal to the sound. He didn’t just survive — he adapted music to the new laws of a broken world.

Now he roams between stations and shelters, carrying techno as knowledge and sound as salvation. His many years as a musician and sound engineer allow him to extract rhythm from shattered panels and broken machines. His sets are precise sonic surgery, where each transition seems to awaken the sleeping.

Tete doesn’t speak much. His voice is the pulse of low frequencies, the shimmer of synths, the breath of old drum machines. Some call him The Heart of the Machine, others — The Last Tuner, but everyone knows: if you hear his set in the wastelands, then somewhere nearby, life still lingers.
