Black Sabbath Sound: Ras Tafari Lives Vol.1

Welcome back to the Red Peak Mix Series. After a little hiatus we are proud to return with a very special mix. This mix features the sounds of Wadadah II of the Black Sabbath Sound System who was accompanied by Selector Ali Baba. Wadadah II was a crucial part in the Late Night Ghetto that took place at the Gypsy House Cafe in July and was powered by Dem Deya Sound System. Jack and Wadadah had a nice moment bonding over the vibrations of the Twinkle Brothers early before the session. Months later we had to follow up and ask for him to dig in his record box for us. While on the phone he introduced us to Selector Ali Baba and the rest is history. Selector Ali Baba is no stranger to Denver himself. He’s played the Denver Vintage Reggae Society’s “LEVEL THE VIBES” digikiller night and with Soulbeat Girl’s Movete Chiquita Vinyl Club. Both of these selectors out of Chicago have been key parts to the bubbling of sound system here in Denver. 

The first part of the mix is hosted by Wadadah II in a one turntable style. Digging into the box from his late Uncle Billy, who had one of the first sound systems in Chicago called President Disco. The selection is top notch. Digging deep into the roots in a different style. Accompanied by his toasting on the mic, it warms up the session nicely. Selector Ali Baba finishes off the second half of the mix. Showcasing his juggling style of mixing as well as some more toasting from himself as well as Wadadah II. The entire mix was done on 7" records and in a real sound system style! Expect plenty of deep cuts and excellent toasting throughout. Turn up the volume and enjoy the session!
