A driving riddim with three different vocal and a special heavy steppaz dub cut, mixed by Roommate outta San Francisco, USA, and finally transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality limited and hand-numbered 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK - of course also digikally available.
The first track coming "Hot A Di Press" is a soundbwoy anthem style combination with the legendary Jamaica-born Daddy Freddy outta Nottingham, UK, on the microphone - a dedication to the soundsystem culture, a musical murderation. The second tune features the "Original Rasta MC" Brother Culture outta Brixton, UK, with some oldstyle "Dance Teng" lyrics from 1985 and the third vocal is from Lesotho-born Kali Green outta Berlin, Germany, chanting with full power and dedication - calling out for some "Hard Working" and conscious living instead of hypocritical dealings. Panda Dub is a rising French dubmaker and live performer. Inspired at first by the french electro-dub school (High Tone, Brain Damage, Improvisators Dub…) on the one side and the heavy steppaz oriented UK-dub scene (Iration Steppas, Alpha & Omega…) on the other side, his creations have thereafter evolved to a personal style : Panda’s touch wisely mixes together ethno samples, fresh electronic melodies, enchanting textures and punchy stepper rhythms sustained by powerful basslines. Delivering strictly uplifting organic Dub sound somewhere between roots, (UK) steppaz and (french) electro dub making the listener jump and skank while sending the mind on a journey. Many of his albums are digitally available for free through the french dub platform OriginalDubGathering. Other labels with his work include: Dubatriation and Fresh Poulp.

This project started a good while ago with a fresh riddim which Mystical Powa had composed for the Idren Natural vocal ‘What A Strength’ aka ‘Hold A Gathering’. A beautiful piece of word sound and message. This new version sparked the idea to make a release out of it, including new recordings by Benjammin with ‘Come Together And Reason’ and PiyaZawa on ‘Flute Reasoning’, both specifically done for the occasion. All multitracks were then given to Petah Sunday to go through his mixing and dubbing treatment in the I-tal Soup Studio. Approved in session, those three tunes are now ready on 12inch vinyl for sound systems near and far! Including several dub cuts! Let those words and those melodies resonate with ones and ones around you!

Power Dread - Rumours Of War + Rumours Of Dub

Here comes a project, as so often, very dear to my heart. It’s the outcome of the hunt, find and follow up journey of an obscure dubplate. A heartical salute to the late 80s / early 90s era in the UK - Brixton to be precise. When Brixton Promotion and Passion Enterprises, under the wings of Howard Hill, were responsible for a number of scorchers with the likes of Michael Prophet, Ricky Tuff and others. The ominous Vanguard had managed to craft his own hard hitting sound with his drum machines, minimalistic and raw, but still full of feeling, that would carry the singers perfectly. One particularly tuff tune from that time has remained a hard to find dubplate though, and it has been haunting me for years.
From first hearing it in Nick Manasseh’s selection - as it is in his precious collection since the 90s - to re- and relistening session and radio recording snippets to find and enjoy it again. From countless conversations and emails I had with Nick and others about the tune, to running thru Brixton record shops, asking around and trying to locate Howard Hill. From Nick one summer at a festival suddenly suggesting to redo the riddim, as the original master recordings of the original dubplate might most likely not exist anymore, to now presenting two beautiful new recordings on a very very special recut out of his studio… it has been a wonderful ride !

Nick is around in the reggae and sound system scene in London since the 80s, plus the most humble person, as well as a top producer, musician, engineer, selector, sound man, radio presenter and just in general super talented in everything he does. Also he was the one who made me discover the dubplate in the first place. When he suggested to take the project down to his The Yard Studio, and record some fresh vocals, I could not believe my luck. A many months and a steady exchange followed and lead to a number of versions.
It’s with great to joy to now present to you a heartfelt ’Need More Love’ by Ziggy Anderson and a great deejay piece entitled ‘People’s Choice’ by Afrikan Simba on a beautifully recrafted riddim plus deep dubs à la Manasseh, all transferred to tape and mastered with care by Star Delta Mastering.

Just grateful how much strength this piece of music has been giving me whenever I press play. Hopeful that it will do the same to others.

This is the time, so let Jah Light shine bright… in special dedication to Michael Prophet and all the fallen angels !

When Pilah asked me to remix one of the tracks of his ‘O’Clock’ album, the choice was easy, as Birdy Nixon’s vocal on ‘Country Side’ directly transported me to the beautiful lakes, fields and forests in the regions north of Berlin, the forgotten gems of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg.
Working on the remix it immediately took me on a journey inspired by the many nights, festivals, garden parties, campfires and good times spent in those country side areas. With all kinds of music, the songs of the birds and the bees, the wind, the sounds of silence and life, away from Babylon… The outcome is a time-travel going back 10 to 15 years, somewhere in Meck Pomm where the wind picks up a dubby techno beat and carries the beautiful voice of Birdy Nixon thru an open window.

"I Man Be Free" comes with two great righteous voices from Berlin, Saralène and Kali Green, chanting for freedom and unity. A real wake up call for all bredrin and sistren. A stepping riddim to make the bass rumble wherever this anthem reach… and it has already reached some dances around Europe with support by some big names in the scene...
Of course it contains a heavyweight dub and a 'part 2 style' extra raw and ruff version. Violinbwoy displaying some of his versatility in the arena of dubwise.
Flipping the disc reveals a very special gem: An almost classical piece, a lovely piano, accompanying Kali Green singing about "Whole Heap A Trouble" in the world - still forward on the positive vibeZ. Music across any kind of genre border that goes under one's skin and makes one tremble under the power of vibrations…

"Don't Kill Your Brother" is a tune very much needed in those times of political turmoil and warfare. Echo Ranks from Leicester, UK, calling upon his I-dren to stop the senseless killing. A message of peace for the youths of today. In this instance with a ruff remix by the 'Balkan Dub Defenders' Digitron from Zagreb, Croatia - electronic madness style… Each side with a 'part 2' dub mix in full effect.

The third vinyl is "Too Hot Fi Dem" - pure fire, again with Kali Green outta the Lion's Den on the vocals - strictly message music for the people. Pierced with another special remix version of "Don't Kill Your Brother" by Echo Ranks on the flipside - this time hailing from Paris, France, with none other than the mighty Bredrin Records on the mix to mek yu jump and twist… again both sides with powerful dubwise versions… nah compromise…

All dubs were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK. It is also digitally available.

Here comes a brand new collaboration reaching from France via Germany to the Netherlands, back to France and now into the world…
A powerful composition by our friends Natural Tribulation from Grenoble, France, was sent to the great Kenyan singer Empress Black Omolo (based in the Netherlands) for recording. The result: a sweet horns melody and deep bassline, bubbling organs and a pumping riddim meet a tuff voice and conscious lyrics inna “Steamers Meditation” style.
The vocal together with the multitracks of the instrumental then went back to France - this time into the Blackboard Jungle Studio - and the whole project got special mixing treatment by the dubmaster Rootical45.
Now in full effect. A rootikal anthem full of positive energy for all skanking addicts - including several dub excursions for the sound system heads…

Here comes another tuff collaboration with RDH Hi-Fi from Nantes, France, we and a few other sounds have been playing throughout the last two years on heavy rotation as exclusive dubplate - always causing nuff ‘furore’ in the dance. For the ones who have been patiently waiting and asking about it: it’s finally ready for the people…

A riddim called 'Hardway' was given to the UK veteran Tippa Irie from London for some lyrical nice up. He approached it with a conscious message and with his original chatting style and wrote and voiced a powerful tune on the riddim - speaking out against all wickedness and injustice by the police - a topic truly important to us. So get ready to skank in unity, teach them about power to the people and 'put up yur hand, if yu don't like police…'

The flipside holds another ruff digital remix inna hardcore fashion. Responsible is none other than the french ‘dub invader’ Natural High Dubs - well-known from his longtime involvement in the Lyon dub scene and projects like High Tone and their sound system force Dub Invaders.

Musical ammunition against police oppression.

Both sides were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK - of course also digikally available. The artwork is again by none other than ohoroho from Slovenia.

The next release in the Lion’s Choice series is spread on two vinyl. One 12inch and one 7inch. Both are with the same vocal by the well-known MC Kenny Knots from the UK - a powerful tune called ‘Rise Again’ - but presented as several different mixes. While the 12inch offers another collaboration with Massive Dub Corporation from Bourges, France, on one side and a ruff and tuff remix by Digitron Sound from Zagreb, Croatia, on the flipside, the 7inch holds a more rootikal version by Ashanti Selah from the UK, ‘spiced’ with some violins by Ras Divarius from France. Of course each mix comes with a dub excursion.
