"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you..." Love, do good, bless, and pray for. These are right actions in the face of wrongdoing. Do good despite the presence of evil. God alone is good. God and Jesus Christ alone is trustworthy. "If someone strikes you on one cheek, offer them the other cheek also. If someone takes your jacket, do not stop that individual from additionally taking your shirt. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you." Remember, it is what God and Jesus Christ thinks that matters. God and Jesus Christ alone is trustworthy. What is it to anyone how long they live, or in what measure of comfort? Those things are ultimately and absolutely out of the control of all. The only one who controls such matters is God and Jesus Christ, "who holds in his hand your life and all your ways". Have you seen people cling to comfort only to lose it? Have you see people carefree and yet successful? "Do not worry about your life... you cannot make even one hair white or black, or make yourself live a day longer or grow an inch taller. If you cannot do any of these very little things by worrying, why bother worrying about the rest?" (Paraphrased.) "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners', expecting to be repaid in full. [Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and teachers of the Law, you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.] Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of The Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful just as your Father is merciful." (Luke 6:27-36).
