Gettin' Humid???

Having shared stages with names like Bonobo, Aim, The Bays and Giles Peterson it’s about time Outlook got this interesting Scottish Band down.
Combing jazz with cinematic emotions the four piece band draw influence from Radiohead, Madlib, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. As well as two live drummers the band trigger live samples and use live instrumentation on Cello and Brass. Their debut album ‘Night Walks’ was funded by the Scottish Arts Council and features guest appearances from distinguished Scottish musicians. Released on Brighton based label Tru Thoughts, ‘Night Walks’ shows off energetic originality unlike any other band.

17- years-ago a musician from Brighton started releasing music on Tru Thoughts records...

In the third of my tribute mixes (following Damon Albarn & Radiohead) I try and get across a flavour of the consistently incredible, continuously versatile and always beautiful music of Simon Green, aka Bonobo, one of my top artists of all time!

From his early singles on Tru Thoughts through jazz & electronica on Ninja Tune and to his most recent albums, The North Borders & Migration, which have seen him garner a pop legend status among DJs, producers and fans of electronic dance music.

This mix tries to give a flavour of the talent of Bonobo but if you enjoy any of these tracks, I urge you to dive into his catalogue, you won't be disappointed!

He has just finished up a pretty ferocious Australian summer, throwing down to packed dance floors all over the country. This last month he released his 5th EP MOR, and he is about to head back to the US for a massive run of dates at festivals and venues throughout the summer. We managed to sneak in a visit to the pub for a few beers and a chat before he leaves Australia for the winter."

Turntables on the Hudson celebrates 20 years of Worldwide parties city to city, river to river with a special compilation pulling from Nickodemus' favorite songs over the past 2 decades. Solid Steel (22nd February) DK starts with a few current gems leading with the huge Romare track 'Your love', new music from Ty and the stunning single from James Blake, plus Machinedrum remixing Guilty Simpson and a classic Donald Byrd production for The Blackbyrds.
Then we welcome Joe Acheson (aka Hidden Orchestra) with his latest mix celebrating the release of the single 'Fourth Wall' from the  'Archipelago' album on Tru Thoughts. Like previous mixes it features all the variety of music that Joe has been listening to in the last year or so, much of which he has added to, mashed up or remixed, with lots of spoken word and field recordings. One of the themes is sleep, or the lack of it - and there's a strong theme of imagined live collaborations - Kelpe with Thom Yorke, Ivor Cutler and Johnny Cash trading verses over Jan Johansson's piano with added beats, Four Tet and Neil Cowley, Steve Reich with vocals from John Lennon and Finsta Bundy…
