About the CD:
In homage to Shindig's epic booking of Danny Tenaglia I felt it was fitting to share what is one of the most powerful and dominating mixes of all time. Nothing say's 'I'm untouchable' like no other gone before and probably still holds strong as a contender for that crown today. As a UK clubber mostly my only memory of seeing DT was his flashlight antics at Homelands, Winchester around 1999. Unfortunately that was a little too hazy than I would I liked. So it's with great sadness I'll be missing his upcoming gig at Warehouse 34 in Newcastle. But wish everyone else going a fucking brilliant night.

About the CD:
I was always aware of Bukem, another DJ who managed to make underground rumblings to the listeners of the British dance scene without  us seemingly knowing who they even were... we just knew about them anyway.  immediately fell in love with this CD once Makoto's 'Inside Your Love' rolled in with MC Conrad's silky smooth mc'ing riding over the top. I'd always loved drum and bass from a distance, but from hearing that track... I was forever a massive fan. I bought into the Good Looking label, bought alot of old releases, all the mix cd's and then fell in love with Bukem's downtempo sister label 'Cookin Records'. This influence was one of the main sounds of my early vinyl days and has gone on to educate and delight for another decade and more. Play it loud, ride the groove, feel the bass. BUKEM!

"Not just grabbing the baton from Koma & Bones -- who ran the second leg of the Y4K series -- but positively sprinting away from all competitors, Freq Nasty turned in a mix album that proves up to the level of innovation in the title. First of all, he forswears the usual cast of breaks specialists (only Total Fusion, Tayo, Almighty Beatfreakz, and Phil Kieran get the nod). Second, he makes the mix his own -- actually playing the DJ instead of just the selector -- by heavily layering the inclusions, whether doubled-up tracks, a cappella versions, or his own remixes. And he paces the mix impeccably, dropping just enough off-tempo tracks to keep listeners attention. Every track sounds like a highlight in context, and, just as it should be, Freq Nasty himself wins honors with his "Amped (Dub)" -- which wins additional points for breaking into an a cappella of Public Enemy's "Bring tha Noise" midway through. Breaking out from the increasingly samey, track-after-track boredom of many mixes, Freq Nasty engineered a mix on par with breaks paragon Adam Freeland."
