First recording since forever! Straight off the bat live recording of Corinne West's Whiskey Poet.. beautiful song.. will re-record, but for the moment chuffed I can do it at all *big grin* :)

Work in progress :) Some parts are still quite clumsy, but that's learning for you! :)
A re-working in song of a poem created in an ArchimedesScrew exercise (an EXcellent poetry workshop in Southampton, give it a go!! :)
I shouldn't have recorded this at all, my voice is still f**d,and I can really feel it! So there was just one take, which is why the second part ends in an 'interesting' manner! :) But this is the first time I've seen how the words change from poem to song, some things are far clearer than the original I think.. can't wait til the voice comes back!!!!!

The priest

The first, rough recording of song seven in the cycle.. in shoreline when she reaches out to him in spell..this is the moment she reaches him.
I shall re-record this (I'm sooo learning to play solo guitar lines, will enjoy it thoroughly when I'm slightly more familiar with the fret board, yey! :) ) but got TONS of visual work on at the mo, so won't be for a week or two..

Smalls egg poem

Work in progress, just to show how the songs turn up for me! This is the first recording.. the "Right!! Put everything down! If I don't record this RIGHT NOW!! I'll lose it!" They usually turn up in entirety and the words will come later. I'll have an idea what it should be about, I'll listen to the words that come out, what feels right, and then work out what on earth they mean ;) They usually have more depth and complexity than the story I consciously imagined :)

 I have the story.. I had a daydream a long while ago about a seawitch.. a woman who lived in a hut on a small rocky island, who was visited by a viking soldier, warrior, who showed a different side of his character there. You know, one that wasn't hacking off people's heads ;) 

Anyway.. after listening to an excellent song by Alan Springate, his words put me in mind of this witch.. and the song came as the witch is talking cruelly about someone not having to worry about tomorrow as his eyes will be pulled from his head.. as the song goes on , it will become clear that she is playing a caricature of herself, a dream of other people's images of her, and in the last verse she appears as she is.. a person who lives by the sea, simply, with living creatures,  dreams, stones, and seaweed..

Need to practise this looads more, the rythyms bend my head! But this is my song for Sotonsong, the challenge was to write a song in one chord, this is mine in A :)
