One of my assignments for school last week was to reference an early rock song and create my own. I chose "Love Me Tender" by Elvis. I really wanted to push myself to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. My interpretation is a little bit more groovy, thanks to Marcos on the guitar, but I'm extremely happy with the result!

Some of y'all know that I recently started producing and engineering for myself. I've been locked in the crib creating nonstop in order to develop a unique sonic identity. I wanted to mix my lyricism with music that may not initially be viewed as hiphop. It's more ambient and flowing, with less of a structure and more of a vibe. I'm still an infant when it comes to production, but I'm making progress! I think I'm on to something with this one. I love all of y'all, thank you in advance for pressing play and for all the support you've given me through the years. This is for all of us.

It's true that inspiration can come at anytime from anywhere. I came up with the idea for Cupcakes & Chamomile last week, while grocery shopping with my girl. We had run out of our Sleepytime vanilla tea, and we had both been craving cupcakes, so we decided an adventure was necessary. I made an offhand comment about our purchases and immediately stopped in my tracks, with new ideas raging wildly around my head. I knew right then that my next song would be called "Cupcakes & Chamomile: A Smooth Tune For You To Play For The One You Love". The timing couldn't have been more perfect. I had just finished submitting my blues project and I was essentially in limbo, waiting for the next piece of inspiration to bless me with its presence. I flipped my creative process on its head for this one. Generally, I create the music and use it to inspire my lyrics. In this case, I had a concept in mind and I was able to craft all of my musical choices around that. Cupcakes & Chamomile is probably the smoothest song I've made in my life. Enjoy!
