Aura Safari & Jimi Tenor's sublime Sensory Blending album yields its first set of remixes on Hell Yeah as Balearic Beat dream team Reverso 68 aka Phil Mison and Pete Herbert serve up two mixes of Your Magic Touch.

Reverso 68 is the studio-based project of Pete Herbert and Phil Mison, and over the last decade-plus, they have mastered the art of making music for swimming pools.

Aura Safari & Jimi Tenor's original vision of 'Your Magic Touch' is a loved-up groove with golden chords and a killer funky bassline buried beneath the lush chords, horns and flute leads. It's perfect sundown music which gets dubbed out by Reverso 68. Their version is more low-slung and deep with a mid-tempo four-four groove sprinkled with tropical percussion. The muted chords are gloriously dreamy and the whole thing is perfect for early evening warm-ups.

Their second Reverso 68 remix is a little more upright and direct but still soundtracks an island escape where the skies are blue and the cocktails are cold. The mending bass soon hooks you in while the chords drift up top to soul-soothing effect.

Summer might be over, but the good times will live on with this superb trio of escapist jams.

This album was one of many unfinished, unreleased or simply forgotten projects that we discovered, while having a look in Alex Krugers’ archives. We found various folders full of work in progress as well as ‘almost finished’ space disco and easy listening material of Alex teaming up with his old buddy Per Fourier, known to some from Alex's earlier work as Dub Taylor.

These recordings were made during summer 2004 and spring 2005 in Berlin, most of the work never saw the light or better, the ear in the end. There was simply not enough time to finish it and Per had to leave Berlin for work at some point. However, two out of these seven songs have been released. There was a small amount of a 12” called MSO ’Jam 2006 Ep’ out on Komfort Music, which included early versions of ‘Motionless’ and ‘The Head’ the same year the Ep title suggests.

On the vocal side ‘Behind The Plexi’, ’Tonite Is The Nite’, ‘Motionless’ and ‘Ultra Lights’ are a wild melange of both Alex and Pers musical history, including early 80s Space Disco and New Wave, Vocal Pop and Synth Pop, all in classic extended, night club friendly arrangements while ’Sugar Jungle’ has more of a 70’s-Disco-Appeal, a soulful and very stripped down Lonnie Liston Smith married to…say, a very stomping Gene Page. Per played the Bass Guitars and did the Singing while Alex was dealing with Guitars, Vocoders, Drums, Samples and Synths. The other two are Instrumental works, ‘How Much Are We?’ would be best described as a spooky late 80s-influenced Dub Version of a forgotten Disco song with a quarter shot of (without wanting to compare) Czukay, Wobble & Liebezeit. It’s pretty cool & minimal too. The only ‘downbeat’ tune, ’The Head’ introduces a different shade, highlighting on how much fun Alex and Per had in the studio bending the samples that led to this result.
 
As mentioned, when we discovered these songs in the depths of an old hard drive some were not yet finished and the overall sound quality was far from being perfect, these were just recordings with half-baked arrangements. We decided to let Alex’s long time compagnon Jan Gabler look over the original parts, finish what’s to be finished, delete what’s to be deleted and add what needs to be added to make these as best sounding and best arranged as he could without changing the initial idea and flow of the work.

London powerhouse Slothboogie is gearing up to drop the fourth installment in their SBEDITZ series, this time with an EP of slammers from international man of mystery, Joe Cleen. This time around, the Berlin based producer has delivered four raw and ready cuts in various styles. We’ve got serious disco heat (one soaked in 80’s nightclub neon), a glorious piano jam laced with dubbed out gospel vocals, shuffling drum machine hats and a pimped out G-Funk synth, and ‘​The Fun Part​’, a bubblin’ bass funk groover filled with crisp percussion and jazzy Rhodes.

‘Give You All I Got’ is the perfect opening track for an amazingly cohesive project, a certified disco monster with infectious brass, erotic vocals and huge space toms reworked to launch any dancefloor into the stratosphere! Steadily swung percussion rides nicely in front of a fat bottomed bassline, while Joe takes us to church with a sensual vocal that glides smoothly over the instrumental. ‘Give You All I Got’ keeps the energy contained, and it moves through four minutes with a graceful swagger that’ll surely capture the attention of eager dancers. Honestly, I just watched the new Quincy Jones documentary on Netflix and this EP sounds like something he’d like. That’s saying a lot.

Slothboogie SBEDITZ004 will be available on October 26th, and you’d be wise to set an alert because the project is limited to 500 copies. This is a vinyl only release, so if you don’t spin records, now is the time to practice (it’s great fun, trust me). You’d be dumb not to have this one in your bag, so do your best to be one of 500.

The MUSHROOM HOUSE compilation is a collection of balearic, afro and cosmic disco tracks that have been released on several Toy Tonics EPs over the last 5 years. Toy Tonics now releases some of these EPs on a double vinyl together. This is the second part. Featuring eleven tracks. (Vol 1 was released in 2020.)

Original tracks and remixes by friends of the label: Kiwi, Red Axes,  Karl Hector, Hugo Capablanca, Harry Wolfman. Very special contributions by New York's legendary Joe Claussell and fashion designer Marcelo Burlon, who contributed the vocals to a song by Milan’s Barking Dogs. Art Alfie from Studio Barnhus is featured also with an exclusive track and legendary DJ Sprinkles with a magic rework of a Hard Ton song.

A few of the tracks had been already released on Gomma records. The now sleeping indie-electronica label that was the „mother“ of Toy Tonics records. Some were made exclusively for Toy Tonics.
