For the fourth Outplay vinyl release we welcome Laurence Guy to the family and have Brame & Hamo on remix duties. It’s paired with two originals by Outplay's own Junktion and Daniël Leseman.
Laurence delivers a wonderful synth driven opener with “Strings Attached”. While Junktion brings his familiar grooves with the jazzy “Breakfast at Midnight”, Brame & Hamo flip it into a dubby stomper to heat up the floors. Daniël Leseman gets to round up the EP with his warm and melodic “On My Mind”.

Jimmy Salmon, co-founder of the label, opens the release with ‘On Edge’, an insight into his dreamy world of lucid synthesizers. The label proves to us the everlasting talent of Scotland’s Glaswegian scene: first Sonter, having one release in hand on Blotter Records, returns with an energetic breakbeat track reminiscent of 90’s trance; and Affi Koman, who steps in with “Psychedelic Experience” after former releases on Huntleys + Palmers and Lyceum Social Club. Jacques Torrance, a familiar face and the second half to the dune, shows a new façade with strong French house influences, before a first encounter with England based producer and disc jockey, Rick Sheen, who gives us a chilled out and bouncy house piece.

Ltd, W/Lbl is a label based out Berlin that specializes in sophisticated, Classical, Jazz and Ethnic oriented electronic music. Since 2017 they have been putting out two vinyl series - one that features re-issues from previously released tracks and another that showcases all newly released work. Today's post involves the latter and includes an original from up and coming artist Alberto De Santiago, better known as Never Dull.

Based out of Los Angeles, Never Dull has been on the scene for only about a year now but has already released work for labels such as Feedasoul, Dansu Discs, and Hopera Records. In his latest effort titled Cool Jazz Boogie, Never Dull manages to pair sultry Spanish vocals along with a groovy assortment of languid synths and gently plucked guitar strings. In that sense, the title of the song is fairly straightforward in describing the vibe it creates and will certainly play well where ever lounging and relaxation is the prerogative.

If Russian producer Anton Bogomolov (aka Scruscru) is not on your radar yet, he will be after listening to his latest offering on Berlin imprint LTDWLBL. Having previously released music on labels such as Minor Notes Recordings, and most recently Nomada out of Colombia, Mr. Bogomolov continues his run of phenomenal releases with a brand new EP titled LTDBLBL005. As the name denotes, this is the 5th record to be put out by LTDWLBL. Up until this point, the label has only produced vinyl featuring tracks from various artists. However, this time around, they have decided to devote an entire 12'' to originals from Scruscru himself - and we could not be more pleased with the decision!

The song we are premiering for our listeners today is the A1 from the release titled "Waka-no-ura Bay." Named after a Japanese heritage site known for its shimmering tidal flats, old stone bridges, and ancient shrines and temples, this track will leave you captivated in a similar vein with its rich textures; colorful arrangments; and crashing melodies. Being a label known for their sophisticated, classical, jazz and ethnic-oriented electronic style, we honestly could not think of a better artist for LTDWLBL to collaborate with on their first, full-length solo feature than Scruscru. If you're like me, hopefully, this will be a paring we will see again in the months and years to come!
