Marquis Hawkes marks his fifth release for Aus with another classy 2 tracker titled, 'The Phoenix' (Part 1 and Part 2). The Phoenix follows up summer hit 'The Basement Is Burning' which saw Midland, The Black Madonna and Gerd Janson all supporting at festivals worldwide.

The Phoenix is two takes on one concept. 

Part One takes the Disco and House amalgam which Marquis has developed in recent times to it’s logical conclusion, perfectly walking the tightrope between joyous abandon and classy depth, and giving DJs the perfect weapon for all floors, from sweaty basements right the way through to much bigger dancefloors. 

Part Two then flips the program with the same raw materials and sets up the perfect shot, directed at a big room House/Techno crossover, building on the foundations laid by the Detroit techno originators by infusing contemporary production values and a more modern twist.

The Phoenix is something of a landmark EP for Marquis Hawkes, once again redefining his sound. We can't wait to hear what he does next.

While we’re less sure about who/what Momios is and why they/it should be fought, the acid and jazz parts of our premiere are self-evident. Fighting Momios With Acid And Jazz is the B1 cut from the upcoming second release of Leicester label, Flat White. Bogota’s Felipe Gordon is the artist behind the record that encompasses a lot of what we like at Bolting Bits: flavours of house, disco, techno and interesting blends of samples and original instrumentation.

The "Deep Fried Banana" EP is a five-tracker featuring a remix from The Last Trip To Gandahar, whose work we’ve premiered before. There isn’t a track we wouldn’t buy on this record, but our premiere is the stand out for us. While the percussive elements cut in and out, dusty-sounding jazz piano samples and a looped acid synth-line staple this track almost all the way through. It’s one of those pieces of music that feel like every part is completely intentional – even the rough bits are supposed to be rough. Felipe Gordon has built an impressive resume for himself recently, with releases on London’s Quintessentials and Berlin’s Toy Tonics, and we’re happy we can play a part in getting the word out on this guy, because his future looks bright. Talented German producer, Etur Usheo, has been steadily releasing on labels such as La Dune, Bon Appetit, Step Back Trax, Moment Cinetique and with EP’s released on Esuoh music and Feedasoul to name a few. Continuing the solid trend into the 2nd half of 2018, Etur Usheo brings his stylishly delicious productions onto Barcelona label, Sound Society with ‘Legacy EP’. Sound Society’s maiden release features 4 house cuts such as raw-melter on ‘My House’, vivacious funk on ‘Take Me Away’ and super-chic grooves on ‘That Sweet Stuff’ and our favorite, ‘Hot Shots’. ‘Hot Shots’ is an homage to Chicago deep house with soulful flavors using lush pads, roomy percussion's and a subdued bassline that channels in pulse of Southside Chicago.

PREMIERE: Marc Bianco & Ethyène - Solomundo [Moonrise Hill Material]

The music of Genius of Time has always been defined by a certain elegance and grace. Finding new ways into and out of the labyrinth that some people call (deep) house, one the Swedish duo’s inner strength is the uncanny ability to create tension, sustaining and playing with it, before rewarding the listener (or dancer) with a fulminating mirror ball. Same goes for their treatment of percussive elements. 
„Peace Bird“, the opener of GOT’s EP of the same name, is a prime-example of that technique: a tight build-up and an intricate breakdown lead to heavily strings and foolproof floor finesse. Coming along with „Smiling Into Eternity“ that mellows you down easy as well as the club ready  „Rymd01“, the whole thing is a more than worthy successor to GOT’s first EP for Running Back almost five years ago. Niceness unlimited. Nerd facts: most of the elements of these three tracks here were recorded live and then mixed down on a reel to reel. No safety net, no double bottom!  Genius of time and genius of love.

Omena travels south of the Mediterranean Sea with antique maps and compass in hand for the release of Parviz's Zerzura EP. This record features four songs of romance and reverie, taking you through a dizzying jazz journey, full of twists and turns; starting with emboldened trumpets, only to end on a handful of quaint piano notes. As dusk settles upon the dunes, the mirage has now vanished, and the forlorn hope turns into a soul-searching journey.

To capture the atmosphere of the piece, Parviz has partnered with artist Rickard Eklund to put together the cover art for the release. Much like Parvis himself, Mr. Eklund was inspired a great deal by the mysticism of the region, which he goes onto explain in our exclusive interview where both delve into the influences behind their collaboration.

As you read through their discussion that touches on everything from Percey Shelley's Ozymandias to the music of Lounge Lizards, Yuseef Lateef and Duke Ellington, make sure to listen to Parivz's forthcoming track taken from the EP titled "Odalisque Au Fauteuil Noir." It will certainly set the mood and get you into the mindset of partaking in a little discovery and introspection yourself.
