JANKA is a project made from a musical friendship between the
two of the most original characters of the Polish electronic scene -
Daniel Drumz and Hatti Vatti. The distance between them is 500
km (Cracow – Gdansk), but the love of analogue equipment,
sampling and classic club aesthetics plus the fascination with the
90's - that’s what connects these two.
JANKA is not just the studio recordings, as from the very beginning
the idea for the project was to play live. Mostly analogue equipment
- synthesizers, samplers and drum machines are the gear used in
their club live acts. Each JANKA's performance is different - there
is always a lot of improvisation. One thing is certain - you won’t
stand still at their show!
It is hard to categorize their sound, but early 90s rave/jungle and
dubby UK bass music are the genres that definitely come to mind!
"Krzyżacy" EP will be released on vinyl and digital via U Know Me
Records on 16th of February! 5 premiere tracks is a foretaste of
what JANKA is preparing for this year's festivals!

Wiosna ’91 to muzyczny powrót do czasów dzieciństwa - wakacji z rodzicami, zdartych kolan na żużlu, grania w piłę i jedzenia popcornu w łóżku.  Wybrałem kilka ciekawych ujęć z rodzinnego archiwum. Jestem pełen podziwu dla mojego taty za to, że chciało mu się nosić tak gigantyczną kamerę.

  Mam nadzieję, że oglądając i słuchając tego numeru, wrócicie myślami do czasów, kiedy wszystko wydawało się być ciekawsze, a jedynym ograniczeniem była dziecięca wyobraźnia.

Volume thirteen in the ever-growing Polena catalogue is solely devoted to the spacey boogie sound of Boryn. A beatmaker, cratedigger and DJ based in Wroclaw, Poland, he released some sample-based house jams for Astropical Tapes - both solo and as a part of Astro Buhloone duo. He also laid a few beats for Polish underground hiphop releases. "Jewels EP" fuses both his house and hiphop background into coherent, unique sound.

Boryn casts his magic spell over eight tracks, sounding not too far away from such contemporaries as Dam Funk, Moon B or Sasac. In its essence, "Jewels EP" is a pure modern funk. It is the music to cruise the streets of your favourite holiday resort town or chill on the porch at night. Catchy sample-based vocal tracks (like "Telephone", co-produced by DYYU∩E) are neighbours with summer beach vibe ("New Home Studio" and "Pretty Drunk Bassplayer"). The title track, with its high BPM, strong groove and cosmic atmosphere is also one of the stand-outs on the EP. It's hard to underestimate the wordclass production level. This beautifully crafted sound allures the listener to take yet another cruise with "Jewels EP" on repeat.

EP-ka "Jewels" łączy jego inspiracje house'owe i hiphopowe w spójne, unikalne brzmienie.

Boryn prezentuje 8 utworów, brzmiących nieodlegle od tego, co proponują mu współcześni Dam-Funk, Moon B lub Sasac. Esencja "Jewels EP" to czysty, nowoczesny funk. To muzyka do powolnego krążenia po ulicach ulubionego kurortu albo nocnego relaksu na tarasie. Chwytliwe utwory z samplowanymi wokalami (jak "Telephone", wyprodukowane razem z DYYU∩E), sąsiadują z plażowym wajbem ("New Home Studio" i "Pretty Drunk Bassplayer").
