Just for fun. I was testing a spaced pair of home made mics. Wm 61a's and his file made me smile as he whistle on the kettle shot off as it boiled. 


Cuppa

,My parents live at 1000ft ASL in the pennines. I was lucky enough to be there during a day of 50-70 MPH winds. This file was recorded from a sheltered position on the patio.
 Mic  sass, recorder LS-5 low mic sense.
 I like the bass content of the wind and the various sounds of the rain. There is also a tiny squeak from a bird feeder hanging almost horizontal, My fave is a hunkered down Blackbird singing for all it's worth against the tremendous  noise of the wind.

Pinkfooted Goose Roosting Anser Brachyrhynchus

Evensong in Finglandrigg Wood. Recorded with Sass mic with em-172 capsules via mix-pre into Olympus ls-5 line in. Weather was breezy but mild (9c) so I used the lower part of the wood as it has more shelter from the wind, this area is quite wet in places so the midges were out in force.

Getting to grips with the mix-pe. Here is a nice dawn chorus on a frosty morning temp is 1 degree very light breeze, fine weather for a recording at 5AM.

This was recorded at the nature reserve near Portishead Bristol. This location is challenging with high ambient noise. Avonmouth docks, a huge local power distribution comound and the M5 encompass the location. I used my dish with EM0172 capsules Mix-pre and LS-5.

I started out with field recording to improve the sound of my video's. but got sidetracked into nature sound recording in it's own right. My gear is fairly humble with most of the mics being home made.
