A simple, yet powerful blues record, produced in studios across Muscle Shoals (at the famous Fame Studios), and Nashville (both in TSE's main studio and at RCA Studio B on music row), this song is features both Joshua Caleb Smith and Lamar Williams Jr. (son of The Allman Brother's band member and lead singer for many powerhouse groups such as Oteil and Friends, North Mississippi Allstars, and more).

This song is about listening to the wind for the sounds that beckon, like a train in the distance calling for you make your own way, no matter where it may lead.

I Can Hear My Train Calling

A song about my first child, written after we went to the hospital for a sudden emergency while my wife was working, at high risk, and in the moments following while we waited to make sure we could still hear his little heartbeat in the ultrasound. This song embodies some of the things I would want him to know about himself, about the world, about life.

The record was co-written and produced with songwriter and producer, Shane Alexander. It's intended to sound and feel alive and organic, like those recordings of the early 70s singer-songwriters, whose collaborations and cross over projects would help blend and shape new sounds and move us in the direction of modern songwriting. 

Recorded mostly in Buddhaland Studios in Thousand Oaks, CA across two days, with some added support in studios in Ojai, CA and Nashville, TN.
