@listentosafetalk are a new Anglo-French trio who mix electronica, pop and psychedelia, and released their debut single and "cosmic hymn" 'Universal' back in March. On Friday they're releasing three great remixes of that track, and we're premiering one from UK acid dons @posthuman.

While the original track is a gorgeous little pop nugget - imagine a heady blend of Simple Minds, Future Islands and Tame Impala - Posthuman have gone for broke and turned it into a 10-minute acid trance epic. Their remix kicks off with frighteningly efficient piston-like drums before lowering down a screen of floaty, sci-fi synths. Somehow it calls to mind the Mars rover, cutting a lonely, trundling figure across the Red Planet. The second half is more combustible when the gurgling acid kicks in, providing a counterpoint to the affected, pop-ready vocals.

Back in March Anglo-French trio Safetalk broke radio silence with their debut release, a cosmic hymn to the ’Universal’. Space is a big place but sometimes when you send a transmission out into the stars you get something unexpected in return, and now 2 months later the cosmos has replied with 3 wildly imaginative remixes.
 
First to make contact are Greco-Roman signings JeanGa and George. The duo have already made a name for themselves releasing a stunning debut album this year and their remix, a heady psychedelic brew of analogue squelches and trippy vocals, shows just why so many people have tipped them as ones to watch in 2017.
 
Posthuman, the British duo behind the riotous I Love Acid parties and label, are next to offer their interpretation. Transforming the track into a 10-minute long 98bpm Acid-Trance reworking that gradually unfolds to reveal its secrets and is sure to hypnotise open-minded dance floors.
 
Finally French artist Ténéré takes a more meditative approach with his reworking, delivering an atmospheric take on the track suitable for both late nights in smoky Parisian cellars and early mornings watching new suns rise above alien horizons.

Lazy Sunday Mix 018 - Safetalk

Having considered cosmos consciousness with their debut ‘Universal’ and the extent of human potential with ‘Gold of the Highest’, Anglo-French trio Safetalk return to earth with third single ’Mimic’ released this November on new Paris based label Splinter. A psychic call to arms against the forces that seek to limit and contain us, ‘Mimic’ takes aim at those who seek to build walls around both our hearts and minds and our physical selves. Built around a call and response between the song’s lyrics and its powerful instrumentation, its rallying cry to speak up and demand change is carried along by the metronomic beat and borne aloft by the towering waves of crystalline synths and pulsating bass.

If that all sounds like neither your average protest or pop song then that’s because Safetalk have already shown themselves to be far from your average band in their brief existence. Tipped by the likes of Thump and Vice’s Creators platform in the US and Clash and the Ransom Note in the UK, the band’s fusion of psychedelic soul and captivating electronica along with a refined pop sensibility earning them comparisons to the likes of Future Islands, Tame Impala and even Simple Minds.

Safetalk - Mimic (Edit)

‘Static’ is the debut EP from Safetalk, aka Berlin based British singer David Harks and Parisian producers Hugues Tonnet & Thomas Desnoyers. Featuring the brand new single, ‘Static’, previous releases ‘Universal’, ‘Gold of the Highest’ and ‘Mimic’ plus a new remix by Parisian producer Royer, the EP sees the band continue to explore the point in space where hypnagogic soul collides with psychedelic electronic music and interstellar RnB-inspired rhythms.

Where the band’s previous releases have offered some respite from the maelstrom of sound and fury that’s engulfed us the past few years, ‘Static’ sees the band confront the injustices of the 21st Century, and the refugee crisis that has swept over Europe, head-on.

In an age when our worst instincts are constantly fed back to ourselves with a passionate intensity, when our societies continue to atomise and fragment Safetalk offer us an alternative, a protest song that demands inclusion, that wants to lift up the nameless and unknown.

Alongside ‘Static’ the EP features the band’s previous singles that saw them tipped by the likes of Clash, Vice’s Creators Platform and the Ransom Note. From the uplifting, transcendental ‘Universal’ through to the mechanical hymn of ‘Mimic’ and ‘G.O.T.H’s ode to human potential, Safetalks fusion of pulsating electronic rhythms, radiant synths and tender vocals combine to create machine music made with heart and soul.

Finally acting as a coda to the EP the band asked their friend, Parisian producer Royer to remix ‘Gold of the Highest’. The result is a stunning ambient reworking that distils the track to a lambent wash of serene synths and provides a perfect meditative ending to the band’s debut EP.

Safetalk return this 2019 to follow sharply on their debut EP Static - an entry that proved a glorious glimpse into the Safetalk world of deeply inspired electronic avant-pop, the first EP’s finale no less a uniquely video of the single Static shot entirely on the IPhone X released only this past March 2019.

The act have been taking their time to lay the groundwork to become a mainstay in the world of electronica, as slow fashion has become relative in the world of digital music, each track has laid the pathway to resist the tides and breath its own life, the act serves to deliver quality at its own pace.

Safetalks "LAYBACK" reveals the acts rhythmical solace that learns to dance between the otherworldly..organic and electronic elements all combined, to prepare a new journey for us all into fantasy. The songs is lead by a focus on traditional rhythmic sampling, pit against a more classic melodious synthesis, detailed modular instrumentation summons the start of a new era for this Berlin - Parisian act.

Bursting onto the electronic music scene in 2017 with the gloriously optimised songs Universal, Mimic and Gold of the Highest, charged on altruistic connections, the act has served as a nexus of inspirational lyrics and shimmering synthesis that has retained from the very start a core following.

This new instalment serves as an introduction for a series of follow up releases for 2019 - as the act prepares to lead us into a world of warped storytelling for our imaginations, creatures come out to play a nightmarish underworld to dance amongst the living.. to turn our worlds upside down.

The single artwork is produced by band member Thomas Desnoyers it boasts a colour spectrum of inversion our awkward realities, reminding us of the primitive spirits that dance with us, eternally.
