Thrumming with and excess of pure energy that radiated from the fissures crisscrossing its core, the POWER CUBE hovered slowly through the endless scrapyards at the edge of the city. Its passing briefly snapped the various automata and machines that lay forgotten therein to life, causing their rusted exoskeletons to whirr with motion before the thermal energy produced by the POWER CUBE reduced their complex components into a molten slurry of their base elements. A lost spark that found itself as cosmic flotsam following the destruction of its former body, the cube wandered aimlessly in search of a new housing that it could imbue with purpose and power, one that could also withstand the forces of the reaction that occurred within it.

With a trail of unworthy vessels left languishing in its wake, the POWER CUBE came to the edge of the scrapyard, where the dunes of a vast desert lapped abrasively at the weathered remains that had first been dumped at this site. It had glided across the sands, further into the wastelands, when the ground beneath it began to shake in resonance with its energetic emanations. From the depths of the sands began to emerge the bones of a colossus wrought of crude materials that did not falter before the cube’s radiance. They coalesced around it’s core, the closest structures glowing red hot from the power of the device that now rested within their protective embrace. Together, both cube and colossus summoned forth the abilities necessary to take a single lumbering step, shaking the earth and resettling the dunes around them as they began their operations as a whole. Lacking a body no longer, the POWER CUBE expelled some of its excess energy and the great behemoth roared to life, it's earthworn and rusted body setting off into the wastes that lay before it.

The futuristic sonics of CURRENT VALUE make their debut on EATBRAIN with POWER CUBE, the latest EP that can be found within the artist’s endlessly expansive catalog. Within POWER CUBE, CURRENT VALUE delivers a masterwork display of his high tech sounds, delivering three tracks that are set to galvanize the EATBRAIN horde and the ears of all who might hear their alien tones.

Dungeon Kru & Pharoah - Me & You [Liondub International]

The weird and wonderful sounds of Finnish Soulvent sharpshooters Askel & Elere meet Hospital crackshot Unglued in the crossfire of ‘Off-angle’ - featuring one of the UK’s most revered mic-men, 4NCY’s Pavan from hip-hop group Foreign Beggars. The adhesive ambassador released his debut LP ‘Interplanetary Radio’ in June 2021, while the Finns equally dropped their hotly tipped first album ‘Simulations’ in November of the same year. Taking its name from the popular PC-shooter Counter-Strike, this sonic shelling confirms that this talented group of musicians should stay firmly in your sights in the coming months. 

Our trigger time begins in the opener with detuned pads and haunting delayed vocals. These elements blend with Pav’s unmistakable timbre, while crisp & skippy drums and warped basslines bubble and mingle forming a rapturous shoot out in the drop, ready to please the dancefloor and shooting gallery alike. 

Circumference meanwhile on the remix, load the banana clip with a rowdy remix of ‘42’ featuring Unglued’s labelmate and esteemed combat partner Degs, taken from Askel & Elere’s debut LP. The Bristol brigadiers opt for a scatter-shot of switch-ups in their refix which is unrelenting in its accuracy. 

‘Off-angle’ is a delightful digital dance-off of styles from some of the finest to do it in the scene right now and lands in your local dancehall and stores alike on the 27th of May. Lock, load and put this one in your armoury immediately!

FRAKTAL SOUND unveils its latest exacting slice of dark and technical drum & bass with a new single from Austrian artist ANTHROPIC entitled "NO NEED TO", which further features Spanish artist MUR on its A-side. The title track from this pair of rising artists weaves its flowing atmospheres through a tightly wound percussive sequence with precision as both of these elements are driven further forwards by the momentum of its bassline undertow. ANTHROPIC then brings the listener into a more desolate sonic environment with his solo track "Sinistre", which is dominated by a pulsating lowend that scatters its vocal motes amidst a vast reverberant space.

Hospital Record’s soulful drum and bass aficionado Makoto is back with his seventh studio album, ‘Motion Of Change’. Following on from his popular ‘What You Need’ EP and the vibrant ‘Maybe We’ll Make It (feat. Mark Force and Archaik)’, his new album brings a blend of jungle, jazz, funk, and soul with Makoto’s signature euphoric touch. With over twenty years in the game, Makoto’s immaculate discography and signature sound have seen the Japanese born producer pave the way for liquid drum & bass all the way into 2022. A true pioneer of his craft since his Good Looking Records days of the late 90s, he’s since racked up an impressive amount of releases on Innerground, UKF, Liquid V and his very own imprint Human Elements.

More recently, Makoto’s output includes his two Hospital albums ‘Salvation’ (2017) and ‘Tomodachi Sessions’ (2019), and the hugely popular ‘What You Need’ ft Vonne selected as the first ever drum & bass track to be played on Sarah Story’s BBC Radio 1 Future Dance show, alongside support from the likes of DJ Marky, Bryan Gee, Flava D, Nu:Tone, Lenzman and more.

The motivational ‘Step Into Your Power’ features ravishing vocals from rising D+B superstar Ruth Royall. Makoto’s production skills don’t go a miss as he cooks up luscious pad hits and a booming bottom end. With the pair recently releasing the flavourful ‘New Love’ on Soulvent Records, expect good vibes galore as two of the most uplifting sound suppliers in drum & bass collide once again.

Makoto unleashes spaced out synth work, soulful guitar licks and a dynamic crescendo of instrumentation on album title track ‘Motion Of Change’ with Hospital Records’ latest signing, the immensely talented singer-songwriter, SOLAH delivering sweet melodies and majestic high notes.

Makoto travels into deeper territories on ‘Explorer’ ft Degs, as he provides grittier production complete with a moody bassline. Labelmate and multi-talented vocalist, MC and producer Degs dishes out a slew of dynamic bars and dreamy harmonies for the pair’s first collaboration since ‘Illuminate’ on Makoto’s ‘Tomodachi Sessions’ in 2019.

Embracing his love for the original sound of the 90’s, the junglistic instrumental ‘Ascender’ brings future-retro synthesis, crisp cut breakbeats and a summery ambience that lays the foundation for the perfect sub-heavy slammer.

Makoto and London-based singer Karina Ramage reunite on ‘Without You’ after previously collaborating on ‘Shine On Through’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Wake Up’ and Forza favourites ‘Wading Through The Crowds’ and ‘Trial Mountain’. Karina’s soothingly crafted vocals compliment the sincere violins and trademark production prowess from Makoto, making ‘Without You’ another future soulful singalong anthem.

The album also features an eclectic mixture of both fresh and legendary talent from across the drum & bass circuit and beyond, brace yourself for a dynamic streak of sonic contributions from the likes of Singing Fats, Cleveland Watkiss, Liane Carroll, Lauren Archer, Rasmus Faber, Pete Simpson, LXT, and Helena May.
