Dekmantel Selectors 2021 was a much needed musical reunion. After the preceding period of stillness, the catharsis and pure joy of finally being together again has been overwhelming. In the words of Danilo Plessow(MCDE): "Thank you for the memories, it truly was a great night."

Local south-London neighbours Baby Rollén & Ollie Rant team up for a three-tracker that launches the off-shoot, white-label of Slump Recordings! Focussed on club-ready, nostalgic UK sounds with a focus on hardware and analogue gear. The tracks span through influences of breakbeat, UK garage, liquid drum & bass, and beyond.

Following Baby Rollén's 'Love Potion' EP, which drew in club and radio spins across the globe from the likes of Carl Cox, Eris Drew, Paramida, Job Jobse, and many more. The label takes a break from its usual EP release schedule due to heavy pressing plant delays with the club focussed SLUW001, 'Move It' EP. Sampling old dancehall casette tapes over a rave-ready blend of big piano hooks and punchy breaks all made through one session hunched over the MPC.

St. Petersburg trailblazer Maruwa takes a break from remixing Skream and releasing her recent mind-melting EP Steel City Dance Discs, to deliver a stunning remix of the A1 that traverses between phat psychedelic acid and euphoric breakdowns through a peak time weapon that's been doing critical damage through the summer already.

OO Recordings returns with the second edition of Splits - a meeting spot between two creative minds. This time around, we’re representing the vibrant local scene of Helsinki.

Kicking things off on the A-side we have emkay. Also known as Gem-K or Maria Korkeila, emkay is taking the listener into the depths of house and electronica, both with a unique and cheeky touch. emkay’s minimalistic (but in no means minimal) approach to electronic music, combined with her playful lyrics creates a state of musical being that is hard to pin down into a singular genre. The key to emkay’s sound is the way it invites the body to interact with the sound, from subtle swing to full-on body-rocking.

B-side features Stuster's takes on contemporary electro and acid. It’s what music with a sophisticated bang should be all about during the 2020’s Stuster's cuts lace heavy kicks with digi-synths and acidic basslines, and manage to bring together something from the very early days of electro with something very current. Stuster’s sound in general combines the creative thinking of a mind from the digital age with an interest in sounds of the past, always with a relentless attitude to taking things forward - both in sound as in dancefloor response.

All tracks on the release are dancefloor friendly but for very different moments of the night. The tracks share a subconsciously communicated ethos, perfectly summarizing what the Splits release series is all about.

out the shape of the old brickwork above the shadow of the trees. It had been there for thousands of years, untouched and mysterious in the midst of the thick, dense jungle. It was said that inside there were precious jewels and treasures from a bygone era and that was what they were here to find out.

The ‘Turtle’, as it was known by the locals’ had never been explored before for it was said to be cursed with ancient spells and dark magic which might make it treacherous for an untrained adventurer. Yet now, here they were, wandering towards the magnificent old structure with the intent of raiding all it laid claim to. It was time to enter the turtle..


 
Fio Faa is set to kickstart a new record label, Sunset Drifters. The first release on the newly launched imprint comes from himself and features four fast paced tracks which sit somewhere between the domain of house, nu trance and techno. This track in particular remained us of those old race car video games from the 90’s, the type where a fast car careered through the snow capped mountain side in glorious pixelated chaos.

Nathan Micay is elated to present the third reissue on Eternal Schvitz: Earthlink - Spectral EP. Originally released on cult Australian label Thunk Recordings in 1996, Spectral was a milestone release for the Syndey scene, garnering international acclaim among tastemakers of the time such as John Digweed. The EP was written by label cofounders Brett Mitchell (of Boxcar) and noted international DJ Phil Smart. It remains  electrifying today. Four tracks of genre-hopping hybrids, sonic gymnastics and stupidly fed back guitars. Lovingly remastered and restored on vinyl. 

As always, Schvitz gives back. To fight the evil no-ID-DJ forces currently at work, every Eternal Schvitz release will be providing 60% of the cut to the artists and ensuring their credits are front and centre. The remaining 40% of profits will go to aequa, a Berlin-based collective with a focus on empowerment of women, trans and non- binary folks through gatherings for interpersonal exchange. Rebecca is a passionate record collector and her knowledge exceeds her time as a "digger".While promoting her own parties and record fair in Glasgow and touring over the last five years, her schedule has fitted in a six month tour with eight-strong Ghanaian outfit Kakatsitsi, presenting her radio show on Worldwide Fm showcasing the best in Scottish music, as well as working on her own live project 'Glasgow Jazz Experiment' which features world class musicians from The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, her talents are not only in playing records, but in composing and live shows also.
