Dante James II aka POET (Passion Over EveryThing) is the son of two preachers Dante and Roshanda James, so he grew up in the church. Dante has always had a passion and love for music even at an early age. At the age of 11, he became the full time drummer at Living Water Ministries of Waldorf, where you can still find him today. Knowing that he had a call on his life, he wanted to find a way to reach the youth when he discovered a new talent. Rapping and song writing. The meaning of Dante's name is poet and that is where his stage name came from and why he believes writing comes a little bit easier to him. He is not ashamed to call himself a Christian rapper and is trying to change the stereotype type that Christian rappers are "whack". Dante started rapping in June of 2012. He released his 1st album/mixtape "BrokenShellz: A New Me" on January 9, 2015. He later came out with a single called "I'm Different" in April. He doesn't see himself stopping any time soon and is looking forward to see how the Lord will use him to reach young people. His upcoming album "Just Let Me Pray" being released on August 14, 2015 is for everyone. He says since it is about how life is and he feels, people of all ages can relate to every song because they are basically all prayer based. Dante is a college sophomore studying Music Performace and Production and is also a Minister in Training.
