Bushwacka &amp; Richie Fingers are starting a new night in London called Roots at Basin House, Kingsland Road, Shoreditch on Thursday March 8th. They're starting this night to highlight the roots of house &amp; techno music as a lot of the music coming out now, apart from production quality, is exactly like what was coming out in the 80's, it's come full circle. As they say, it all comes back around.

I've also been promising myself to start a new retro series as many of the new generation of clubbers don't know all of the really cool old shit &amp; of course deserve to hear it &amp; love it just as we old timers have, so doing this mix for Bushwacka &amp; Richie Fingers has given me a kick in the arse to start this series. This mix is 1986-1989 house music, mostly from Chicago. I will also be doing other mixes showcasing old school NYC garage, acid house, deep house, Detroit techno, hip hop, breaks &amp; old school electro in this series &amp; not just one mix of each of those genres, but many.

The End hosted the official 20th Anniversary of The Summer of Love on 30th August 2008. With two of the Acid House movement's most seminal parties, Clink St and Shoom, hosting the three rooms across The End and AKA. You've probably heard these tunes a million times on a million compilations in their own right, but this mix is really about the mixing. Some of my most cherished memories of DJing involve tunes from the early 90s, and finding the best possible combinations of parts of these tunes to overlay. Even though I was playing other people's music, through mixing in this style, I could still fancy myself as a bit of a musician of sorts, and that's what this mix represents. Well, that and some absolutely corking tunes!

Nothing obscure here, just all the favourites, carefully blended to make this mix more than the sum of its parts. And to be fair, it's made up of some reasonable parts! You Got the Love, Around the World, Funky Cold Medina, JJ Tribute, Young MC, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, K Klass, and the cream of old skool Italo piano house from back in the day.
