The Robbie Boyd Band won the Alternative category of Live and Unsigned and were the official runners up overall! As a prize for the main runner-up, we are paying to send them to Rome to play at Tour Music Fest in November 2011.

The Robbie Boyd Band have recently played to a packed out O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and also gained the backing of Sir Tim Rice, who has selected two of Robbie's songs for his BBC Radio 2 Programme American Pie, and who referred to Robbie as a “singer of considerable talent with the ability to create original songs without losing the commercial touch.” They have a genuinely exciting sound, with brilliantly catchy songs that will stay in your head for days, and are generating plenty of buzz around the London circuit.

An eclectic mix of talented musicians using violins, mandolins and four foot wind chimes amongst others, accompany Robbie’s beautiful songwriting to produce a uniquely “Funky Folk” sound. Robbie works hard at his craft, and his passion for writing uplifting and soulful tunes is fuelled by a desire to sprinkle a little bit of happiness into people’s lives through his music.

The Robbie Boyd Band are carving a niche into the Folk/Pop/Rock genre of the moment with a twist of their own.

Live and Unsigned is the UK’s biggest original music competition for bands, vocal groups and solo artists. Travelling across the nation, the competition searches for the ultimate and best UK unsigned act. 

Over 10, 000 acts entered the competition last year and the Grand Final saw the cream of the UK’s unsigned talent showcase their music in front of thousands of audience members and the judging panel which included BBC Radio 1's Rock God Daniel P. Carter, Radio 1’s Tom Deacon, Kerrang’s Alex Baker and Funeral For A Friend star Ryan Richards . 

Those who make it to the Grand Final will get to share the stage with some of the UK’s best musicians at Live Fest at the 02 in London!
