As its name suggests, "California Wang" is a joyful mix of cosmopolitan musical influences, ranging from surf music to traditional Asian melodies, including reggae and acid house.

Captain Mustache (Kompakt, Bedrock,...) delivers a hypotonic and captivating remix of the song. For its part, Vantage (Neoncity Records,...) offers a funky version in homage to the OSTs of 90s video games.

Here we go again! The return of the Greek DJ and production duo Boys' Shorts - this time in remixed form!
»On The High Line« and »Dark Room Rendez-Vous« from their first ever release for LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON get the remix treatment for even more Boys' Shorts dancefloor mayhem.
First up is Romain FX with his »Pressure Remix« of »On The High Line« and the title gives a hint to Romain's approach: He indeed adds a bit more pressure stripping down the former 80ties fueled track by adding a big big bass line thus achieving a more concentrated punch in general. By keeping DJ City's beautiful cool vocals for their remix they manage to keep the same lascivious quality you find in the original version. We say: Mission accomplished.
The next ones are a real "All in"! Jason nocturne doubles his stake straight away! Two versions for you! Keep it rollin' "On The Highline", or do you like it more acidic? The choice is yours!
Former Chicago-raised and socialized DJ and producer Alinka is next with her version of »Dark Room Rendez-Vous«. We're happy the Ukrainian-born and now Berlin resident Alinka is back for LARJ twisting the knobs just the right way transforming the track into a straighter and slightly darker monster the original instrumental already is. It's a winner, thank you Alinka!
We stay with the same track but now it's Mala Ika's turn. The French producer originally from Guadeloupe throws in a deeper bass drum into her remix and holds this extra energy over the whole six minutes. Mala Ika also adds a happy little synth melody that transforms this typical dark tune into a joyous yet still dark track.
All in all these three remixes can be seen as a beautiful supplement to Boys' Shorts original outing and will definitely find their way to the clubs all over the world.

This week on Topshelf we’re gassed to have with us from France, rising Italo DJ/Producer, Theo Scuera.

With his glorious debut track ‘Es Muss Sein’ dropping on Mélopée Records mere months ago alongside artists such as Aural Trace, Jason Core, Panthera & Plexi Glass to name a few, Theo Scuera has started his discography off strong, already demonstrating his impressive talents in production with his high pace, house infused italo tracks that certainly deliver what they’re serving. 
His second record ‘Who Needs Tomorrow’ continues to live up to the euphoric bar he set with his first release and we are sure that this is a trend with the artist that will refuse to be dropped.
We are extremely excited to hear what Theo has next in store for us and you this year and with his class and consistency we’re sure his music is a well we will continue to draw from whenever we need a popping Italo number in a set.

After kicking off its journey with a rich well-received eleven-track compilation at the end of last year, the Saint Brieuc-based Estuary Tapes brings to the virtual shelves its second release. For the occasion, the promising French label welcomes skilled producer nICo to its roster. With previous works featured on HardFist, Inside Out, and Sinchi, just to name a few, the Italian producer refuses to have his sonority pigeonholed and manages to deliver an interesting palate of colourful pieces.

For his debut on Estuary, nICo presents the expertly constructed “Unexplored Earths”, a four-theme EP with a concerning message: “the quest for a new habitable planet” – something we might need way sooner than expected due to the insatiable greed of the abusers of our fragile and doomed little blue dot.

Premiered here, the insightful “The Red Sun” opens the fete wrapped in what nICo considered the correct aura for the EP: "spacey and acid vibes, dub percussions, and shamanic rhythms” which resulted in a mesmerising and emotive cut filled with “textures, deep atmospheres, and solar melodies.”

SINCITY consistently impresses their audience with their latest releases. For their third EP, they feature Rabiee Ahmad, an established producer from their homeland, who contributes an original track titled 'Dream'. Rabiee demonstrates his expertise in creating ethereal progressive music with his use of pads and vocals. The EP also includes remixes from Lavie Au Soleil and Black Kalz & JU:ST from London and Sri Lanka, adding an organic house flavor to the track. Additionally, the EP features a remix by Maxi Solo from Argentina, whose debut production showcases his potential for achieving great success in the future.

As the name states Live at Robert Johnson is the associated label of the respected venue in Offenbach and incorporates what the club stands for. The imprint has been establishing a solid ground for the new Frankfurt sound since 2009. By featuring internationally acclaimed artists LARJ has been providing DJs and audiences with essential tunes in an extensive range of high-quality house music. Laid-back dance-floor awareness with a sense for particularity in sound is what might describe best most of the releases and artists.
