It was the bond of bold friendship that brought these guys together - and of course a shared history of sub-genre juxtaposition and meshing. Both grew up on Punk, Rap, and of course the early days of Techno. »Still There« is their first EP together and thus of course their first for Live At Robert Johnson. It's a venture into the euphoric, psychedelic power of early Trance and Breaks mixed with the attitude and energy of EBM and Electro.

Starting with the moody slow beats of the title tune »Still There«, Y2C takes you on a journey to a faraway chill-out room in some dark yet warm and cozy cellar. Or is this place to be found in synth heaven? It could well be if you listen to those dreamy melodies. Melodies as beguiling as the song of the Sirens that seduced good old Ulysses.

Y2C pick up on that dreamy vibe but throw in that slight and subtle Trance-factor, taking up speed with »Romantic Squat«, dragging you into their very own romantic squat.

Next up is »Love Your Enemy« - oh yes, shouldn't we all? Icy claps with lots of reverb and a bass line draw you onto the dry ice flooded alluminum floor and there's no way back - especially when that strange break with that crazy sound makes you stop for a second and think, why did I stop dancing? Get back on the floor y'all!

The last track »Mairei« is indeed some kind of a lollapalooza ride, a very special ride. And no, it does not lull you to sleep because the beat created by Y2C here is a demanding one, a special which gets you going all over its eight and a half minutes. It's sheer bliss, you gotta believe it. --- need to change this part!

This is not a one-off novelty EP, it's a kinetic collaboration. Y2C is a force of nature, a force of RAVE/WAVE energy, with many more to come, a force to reckon with.

Was it possible to feel both satisfied and unfulfilled at the same time? To be complete yet empty? Straddling two worlds that are seemingly contrasting but strangely they both make complete sense to you... People always say the grass is greener but there's no knowing if that's ever really true - usually the thing you need is already staring you right in the face. If it's not, then perhaps you're in the wrong lane altogether.

It's likely when you think of 80s Italo Disco, Alexander Robotnick's name will immediately come to mind. A veteran of the Italian electronic music scene, it's been 40 years since he helped to pioneer the now infamous sound, defined by its infectious arpeggios, analogue drums and robotic vocoders.

Still hard at work today and now in his 70s, Robotnick's latest venture takes him to Italy's Bosconi Records, a departure from releasing on his own Hot Elephant Music, which has been the home of most of his recent work. The Hidden Game is made up of three original cuts, previously unreleased, that blur the lines between Italo, electro and techno, bolstered by a remix from a new flag-bearer of the modern Italo sound, Tiger & Woods co-founder Marco Passarani.

Deep in the forest somewhere between steep hill, rushing river and magical creations there's a hidden treasure Jump on a journey with Positiver, with his uplifting debut EP for such an occasion. Timing is great, cuz sun is blasting.

Positiver is a fresh new producer based in VIlnius, Lithuania. His love for music started in DJ duo ''Absurd'', but few years, when pandemic hit the world and rushing life had to stop, it was a time to get back to your trueself. Inspired by musicians like Sweely, Adam Pits or Liquid Earth, experimentation with sound design began. Cozy bedroom grew into studio with synthesizers and jamming abilities. "Groovy drums, jumpy basslines, uplifting pads and acid motives is what drives me the most while jamming in the studio'' - he says.

There’s a first time for everything, at least that was what he had been told. Then why was it that he felt as if he’d been here before? Lived through this moment? The deja vu of a reality that was not his?

This was the first overture. It might be the only opportunity presented to him to escape from this place, perhaps that was why he felt as if he’d lived this moment a thousand times already. In some ways he already had.

He’d dreamt of far flung getaways, of action packed escapes, of perilous and noble pursuits which would break down the walls and cease the charade for them all. This was the one shot…
 
Manami is set to release her debut full length EP on Viscera Transmissions, the record label offshoot of the prominent dance and electronic music focussed magazine. The EP features a collection of tracks inspired by early trance and 90’s house – the result is effortlessly progressive and spaced out. This one is a track called ‘Overture 1’ and it features atmospheric pads, acid stabs and euphoric sequencing which will lend itself to the later hours.

Malfunktion by Kinay is driven by a strong, relentless rhythm – precise, hard, almost machine-like. Yet above this raw energy float soft pads, acting as a counterweight: warm, breathing, fragile. Between these two poles unfold glitches and disturbances, fragmenting the sound without ever fully breaking it.
What emerges is a constant tension – a balance of control and chaos, structure and drift. Each repetition carries small fractures, each detail feels like the echo of a larger disruption.
Malfunktion is not an outburst but a process: a state of endurance, of being continuously propelled forward. Rhythm as engine, pads as breath, noise as the reminder that perfection is always fragile.

As the name states Live at Robert Johnson is the associated label of the respected venue in Offenbach and incorporates what the club stands for. The imprint has been establishing a solid ground for the new Frankfurt sound since 2009. By featuring internationally acclaimed artists LARJ has been providing DJs and audiences with essential tunes in an extensive range of high-quality house music. Laid-back dance-floor awareness with a sense for particularity in sound is what might describe best most of the releases and artists.
