Jakarta's based producer and Dj "Komodo" has been building thru years a great reputation in the underground electronic scene, signing astonishing works for well respected labels as "Cocktail d'Amore Music", "Ene Records" or "Not An Animal" and helping the Indonesian underground "disco-no-disco" scene to emerge thanks to his magnificent imprint "Akamady Records", pushing with talented djs and producers from Indonesia since 2013.

This is the first collaboration between MM Discos and Akamady Records, and for the occasion we have given them the helm of our ship in order the Indonesian guys take the control by bringing their sound to MM Discos. A trip that starts in Jakarta and ends up Berlin commanded by Komodo and his "protégé" Saturn.

"Thunder" and "Monster" are built from sickly percussions and obscure synths that evolve in highly addictive dark-mental rhythms getting both very influenced by wave and dark-disco.

Talented producer Saturn reworks "Thunder" guiding the track thru the same atmosphere that Komodo delivered first and doing his own thing by making something less hypnotic and more psychodelic than his mentor.

As we said before, "Thunder EP" is a trip that starts in Indonesia and lands in Berlin, a story of monsters, dragons, mirrorballs and dancefloors; take shelter, the storm is about to get where you at.

Working the fields of Italo disco, rave, and house, TURNLAND co-chief FELICE delivers the goods with a smashing tune entitled "INFINITE SUBURBIA" which indeed can easily be tagged with the "Italo" moniker - a very modern and up to date, state of the art italo take that is. The tune is a stomping tour de force (or more likely a Giro d'Italia …) with razor-sharp piano stabs and DJ CITY sweetening the former instrumental track by adding marvelous icy cold yet laid-back vocals - a collaboration which came into being during the 2020 Covid summer. Of course, we put the instrumental on the EP as well - for those of you who want to sing yourself …

Exclusive: DC Salas - The Weight Of Uncertainty (I:Cube Remix)

With EPs on Correspondant, Live At Robert Johnson or his own label Biologic Records, DC Salas has built up quite an impressive back-catalogue over the past two years and the Brussel-based artist does not seem to slow down. His latest four tracker, The Weight Of Uncertainty, will be released on long-standing British label Futureboogie and keeps up the prosperous path. Provided with three original tracks the EP also comes with a remix from legendary French producer Nicolas Chaix better known under his artist moniker I:Cube or as part versatile producer duo Château Flight, for the title track. Legenary because I:Cube has been responsible for one of the electronic music scene's most important tracks, namly Disco Cubism, and remixed Daft Punk's Around the World. Furthermore, the Parisian has worked with iconic artists such as Joakim, Prins Thomas, Tornado Wallace, Vermont – just to name a few – over his more than two decades lasting career and to pinpoint it: I:Cube has dedicated himself and his passion to music, and the latter has found a source to trigger emotions through his work. For his rework of DC Salas' The Weight Of Uncertainty Nicolas kept the bleepy chords from the original version but puts them into a different sound-surrounding as the pads that accompany the original elements create a rather ambient vibe.. However, if one expected an ambient track is proven wrong because the I:Cube remix is still dancefloor-oriented as it unfolds its hypnotical-touch with a repetitive vocal that seems to echo in the foggy-pads and lure the dancers and listeners at the same time into the track's, into I:Cube's cosmos.

From the cosmos of Stretford on the outer realms of Manchester comes the kaleidoscope view of the world according to Psychederek and it's an explosive trip of shoe gaze soaked balearica on this super limited vinyl release!

Lead track Screamadereka heads straight into orbit from the get go with a stop off to thank the likes of The Cocteau Twins & Death In Vegas for their influence along the way. Huge drums, spaced out synths, warped guitars & a fully charged love in style vocal all wrapped up in a mushroom flavoured microdot with a pretty empowering finale.

I'm Alright steps up the ante a bit more and goes all Tomorrow Never Knows on us but with added warehouse acid squelch & rasps throbbing out from a beat that is broken (but not break beat!) whilst still retaining the psychedelic tendencies of its predecessor.  

Sean Johnston steps off the ALFOS rocket ship and joins forces with Duncan Gray for their Hardway Bros Meet Monkton Disco Dub take of Screamadereka and the result is a hive of cosmic mutant disco brilliance whilst Manchester's finest 6 piece See Thru Hands turn I'm Alright into bombastic focused UKG style wig out duet complete with new vocal takes by DNCN for seriously wonky floors & like minded souls.

For the digital release there is also an extra helping from Hardway Bros & Monkton where they ramp up the wonk factor & go even more horizontal than the original!

Limited vinyl release comes with an incredible exclusive insert drawn by Manchester local artist Emma Evans and features a visual interpretation of the Space Arcade E.P.

‘Drive’ the new single from Norwegian producers Tarjei Nygård & Stockhaus, featuring the unmistakable vocals of 80s electro legend The Egyptian Lover, is nothing less than an unabashed 808 driven, low end anthem. From its abrupt bass stabs and robotic percussion to its even more robotic vocoders ‘Drive’ is the kind of track that will
have you digging out your old lino and poppin’ & lockin’ with the best of them. Starting life as an instrumental, recorded when Stockhaus and Nygård spent a stormy night in the studio laying down new tracks, the pair knew they had something good on their hands but still felt like the track was just missing a certain something. Or rather a certain someone, as years before the pair had hung out with The Egyptian Lover at Nygård’s NuMusic Festival and really who could be better for the job?
As luck would have it Nygård was set to be in LA for work a few years later and what’s more the man behind the classic ‘Egypt, Egypt’ was not only in town but loved the track. All that was left to do was quickly book the legendary Skip Saylor Studios (where the likes of Ice-T and Guns N’ Roses had recorded in the past) and get that jam in the bag.
‘Drive’ also marks a welcome return to Eskimo Recordings for Tarjei Nygård who, as well as releasing singles on labels such as Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp and Lovefingers’ ESP
Institute, previously featured on Eskimo’s ‘The Orange Collection’ compilation with the timeless track ‘Flog’. For Stockhaus meanwhile ‘Drive’ marks his debut on the label and is, remarkably, his 1st single of the year, a nice change of pace after he set himself, and
completed, the task of releasing 100 songs in 2019.

Lucas Lejeune & Carsten Fluck are Le Jeune Flück, a young and promising producer duo based in Frankfurt, Germany. Having previously appeared on respected Indie Dance/Nu Disco labels such as Moonbootique, U're Guay, Clipp.Art, and Sinchi, the lads make their debut on Paradiso Records with “Remeasure”, an interesting 7-track EP, broadly inspired by the exciting electronic music legacy FFM and its surroundings bear and devoted to helping the duo to carve their own.

The multitude of sounds featured on the release got some boost provided by Elliott Lion and Rees, the label boss himself, who jumped in with their respective influences and delivered two insightful and beautiful remixes.

The track we chose to review/premiere brings Rees having probably not his first rodeo with the peculiar sonority that emanates from the bedrooms, garages, basements, and studios in Hessen and takes over the dance floors not only throughout the region but also across other neighbourhoods. If you have ever been to Robert Johnson (based in Offenbach, and not in Frankfurt as many magazines and blogs insist on publishing wrong), you know what we are talking about. Big Rees competently manages to hand over a remix that would perfectly blend amid the kind of thing that we, Frankfurters & Offenbachers, like around here.
