As its title suggests, El nino diablo’s second solo effort the ‘Dreamweaving’ EP is an invitation to weigh anchor and drift off to upper, lusher spheres of consciousness. Recorded in his home studio in Berlin during the first lockdown in April 2020, this EP is the yin to the yang of the darker hues of ShadowPlay that was released in January. Warmed up via slo-moving tides of verbed-out textures and sun-bleached envelopes hinting at classic BoC'ian electronica, ‘Dorothea’s Rainbow’ eases us in a brightly hued daze of sorts right away. Through an ethereally evocative knit of languid, brass and piano-strewn house programming, subtly inlaid field recordings and otherworldly, soulful choirs, the opening cut sets the tone for the cross-dimensional trip ahead in fine hypnagogic style.
