When Konstantin (Giegling) asked me to play on a Giegling night, I felt surprised, as this is a genre/label that is a bit more out of my comfort zone. However, he asked me to play whatever I wanted in the second, more "disco" orientated room at Giegling in Chinastraat, Ghent, Belgium. I am happy to share my selection with you. Andrew Weatherall (1963-2020) was a highly influential British DJ, producer, and remixer, renowned for his eclectic taste and innovative approach to music. Emerging from the vibrant London music scene in the late 1980s, Weatherall became a pivotal figure in the development of the acid house and electronic music genres. He gained widespread recognition for his remix of the track "Loaded" by Primal Scream, which helped define the sound of the early '90s and contributed to the rise of the Madchester scene.

Weatherall's work was characterized by a unique blend of genres, seamlessly fusing elements of house, techno, rock, and post-punk. His productions often featured a raw, gritty aesthetic, reflecting his deep understanding of both the dancefloor and the underground music culture. As a DJ, he was known for his captivating sets that traversed a wide range of styles, captivating audiences with his ability to create a hypnotic atmosphere.

Beyond his work as a DJ and producer, Weatherall was also a respected label owner and a key figure in the independent music scene. His label, Rotters Golf Club, showcased a diverse array of artists and sounds, further cementing his legacy as a champion of innovative music.

Weatherall's impact on the music world is profound, and his contributions continue to resonate with artists and fans alike. His passing in 2020 was a significant loss to the music community, but his spirit and influence live on through his extensive body of work and the countless artists he inspired.
