'Internationally-renowned DJ/producer Sander van Doorn returns to the release radar under his Purple Haze moniker with his latest thumping original production ‘Horizons’. The talent’s new track follows up a slew of highly successful singles under the alias such as last year’s ‘Manoeuvres’, ‘Recover’, and ‘Faces’, in addition to serving as a follow-up to Sander’s ‘Breakfast In Vegas’ from the tail end of this February. Out now via Armind, ‘Horizons’ is available to listen to across all streaming platforms.

The floor-shattering melodic techno offering is wholly anthemic in nature, providing a larger-than-life ambiance throughout its entirety. Beginning with a propelling bass and flowing rhythm, the atmospheric opus sets the stage for an eventual slower pace. An enticing vocal enters the sonic space shortly after, instilling the tune with lyricism replete with a sense of optimism and hope. The high octane sensibilities pick back up,  taking the listener on a journey of sound quite unlike anything heard before it. An ambient flair, shimmering soundscapes, and heady tone round out the rest of the enthralling release, in turn producing quintessential Purple Haze listening material.'

Kicking off with the title cut “Fénix,” Lutgens wastes no time unloading that distinct ethereal-laced sound VOLTA is becoming synonymous with. Pulsating grooves, rippling low-frequency rumble, and rising musical resonance are all at play here, facilitating an expanding ebb and flow filled with atmospheric crescendos and deep-plunging breaks - hard-hitting interplanetary techno at its absolute finest yet again.
“Sinistro” brings the release to a head with another firm hand strike. Urgent, racy rhythms drive the track forwards through a gauntlet of sinister sonic characteristics as it careers alongside another electrifying low-end roar throughout, with shards of acid and melodic techno fragmenting into the mix.

<p>After their appearance on our &#8220;Abilities&#8221; compilation, Steam Shape come out swinging with four shadowy tracks. &#8220;Output&#8221; is up first, with hypnotic electronics clearing the way for grand stabs and melodic riffs over a grinding rhythm section. &#8220;Eris&#8221; picks up from there and whips out the looped-out vocals, as acidic phrases and shattering sub-bass interlock effortlessly with the rocksteady drumset. The title tracks&#8217;s rumbling low-end provides the perfect backdrop for creeping synthesis and tasty, staccato chords which ultimately lead us to the closing &#8220;Predestination&#8221; where we are introduced to frantic claps, unfolding synths and haunting phrases.</p>

In the DJ booth Hidden Empire and Boy Next Door all bring their immersive sets, packing up heat and energy on the dancefloor. The same can be said for their productions, which are industrious club catalysts, as they show in their latest joint release consisting of a power-heavy four tracker. Hidden Empire kicks off affairs with Lost in Time, a resounding deep tech incursion centered around a throbbing bassline and swift percussive arrangements. The groove carves out space through alternating buzzing synths and a hellish vocal, creating an acid-tinged dungeon-like atmosphere. This seems to set the tone for the entire release, as Get Lost brings to a focus an equally murky ambiance, filled with voluminous elements and heavy synth pads. An ominous vocal enhances the overall gloomy mood adding suspense, while arpeggiated chords bring in a contrasting slice of warmth and light. Boy Next Door’s first offering comes in the form of Dael, a gradually unfolding marathon of a piece, dotted by zig-zagging synths on a backdrop of a fidgety, nervous bassline. The track evolves into a stripped down wavy synth cut, suitable for shifting up gears. Koba shows off BND’s systematic treatment of bangers featuring a tense bassline and anxious percussion. Using pounding drums and a dramatic rise, it eases into a cinematic construction with ample build ups and relentless loops. All in all, a set of intense dancefloor tools fit for late-night antics as well as transitioning swiftly into the after hours.
