British Multi-Platinum DJ-Producer-Singer-Songwriter John Newman Releases New Single "Guiding Light" As Ode To His Newly Born Daughter. Out Now on Smash The House

British multifaceted artist John Newman debuts to Smash The House with his new single "Guiding Light," a meaningful, genre-bending, euphonious gem that's an ode to his newborn daughter. John's soulful vocals open up the song over cinematic melodies that lead into a riding, deep bassline complete with percussive synths and string instrumentals, giving "Guiding Light" both the uplifting qualities of a big room dance track and a hint of underground with the techno bassline. He recently became a father, and the track, with its lyrics like "I'll be by your side, holding onto you," is brimming with a highly personal and heartfelt love that's tangible with each note. The new release follows the DJ-producer-singer-songwriter's recent collaboration with Alesso - "Call Your Name," as well as as well as multiple earlier successes such as three BRIT nominations, platinum certifications, multiple UK #1 singles, and more collaborations with the likes of David Guetta, Galantis, Kygo and his most streamed track "Blame" with Calvin Harris.

I love the idea that I can make songs for her that she can listen to throughout her lifetime, with 'Guiding Light' being the first. For the production, I wanted to make a record that transported back to that UK radio sound I started out in. But, at the same time, I also wanted to challenge the big, uplifting dance track formula with Godfather-like strings and invigorating techno drives that I've been vibing with lately. Newman's career as a singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer began in 2012 with his UK number-one hit "Feel The Love" with Rudimental. He then launched his solo career with the global record-breaking single "Love Me Again," which debuted at number one in the UK Official charts and went on to hit the Top 10 in over 30 countries, amassing 1,6B streams worldwide. For a kid who grew up on a council estate in a small Northern English town DJing on borrowed gear, Newman was shattering his boundaries to success from the start. When Newman released "Blame" with Calvin Harris in 2014, the song broke the record for most-streamed song in one day and became the first track to break 10M streams in a week on Spotify. After further collaborations with heavyweights Kygo, David Guetta, Galantis, and more, Newman has driven his way to 3 BRIT nominations, over 2,5B streams, and number-one records as a songwriter and artist. In 2021, Newman released "If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know)" with David Guetta and MistaJam, re-igniting his career after time away to rediscover himself. The single went on to again bring him global acclaim in a new stage of his career. 2021 also saw Newman partnering with his long-term collaborator Calvin Harris to write yet another chart-topping single, "By Your Side" featuring Tom Grennan.
