Cera Khin takes a step forward with the release of her debut production “Demons To Some Angels To Others” on her label LazyTapes, which takes its title from the cult horror “Hellraiser”. Developed throughout last year, “Demons To Some Angels To Others” is a play on euphoric and horror aesthetics. The positive and negative coincide into one. Taking a club-oriented approach while
keeping a distinctly bold atmospheric tone throughout.

The listener is greeted with the ambiguously titled “No Escape”, a breathy roller containing bespoke snippets of background noises from unknown horror archives, tied together with huge pummeling
kickdrums that has been a staple in her dj sets. Next is “Do You Believe In Evil” characterised by its powerful take on doomcore riffs and ominous bells almost guaranteeing dancefloor destruction. “Full
Belly” is a fast paced, twisted take on psytrance with claustrophobic razorlike synths piercing through the mix. Finally we have the closer “Demons To Some Angels To Others” which also serves as the
title track of the EP. Alarm bells are ringing, glass is breaking, attention is demanded but most of all the lines between opposite forces are shown to be interconnected.

With the tracks combined, it serves as a modern techno soundtrack pointing to the current collapse of consensus reality. On “Demons To Some Angels To Others” a perceptual tension between opposite
moods is created which aims to form an indivisible whole. Above all, Cera Khin plays with duality which appeals to various forces all across the dance music world.

Inspired by the iconic tradition of the sample pack, the Source Folder series seeks to explore the diversity of interpretations, paths and offsprings that might emerge from a common resource. In each installment, a member of the Global URL Nation provides a sample pack from which other artists are invited to create a new track. 

To initiate the series, we are honored to welcome SNKLS, a French producer blending rich sound designs, intricate drum patterns and synthetic curiosities into unique entities at the crossroads of genres and labels. 

For his participation, he curated not one, but two packs of sounds, made from a selection of Eurorack modules such as Rings, Morphagene or DPO, providing a set of tools, materials and supplies for others to appropriate, upcycle, reuse and combine in order to create their own item. 

The 160 Pack edition gathers Ancestral Vision, Atrice, B E N N, DJ Body Double, dragongirl, El Murki, Lia Catreux, Orqualyzer, RougeHotel, SNKLS, Talita Otović, & VIBRISSE. Bass-heavy club cuts, broken drum patterns and sharp textures deliver a crushing discharge of energy, an eruption of invigorating fluids that seems to emerge from the darkest depths of the underground.

Gabber Eleganza launches his label Never Sleep with Multo Crudo by London via Brazil & Russia producer Lizzitksy. The label is “an organic step after seeing the original Gabber Eleganza archival project grow into a multi-platform endeavour”, with a remit to showcase new and old artists that symbolise not just rave and post-rave culture, but a wider DIY aesthetic. 

Lizzitksy’s debut release draws from a disorientating suite of tropes - blasts of harsh noise, hollowed out sub-loaded kick drum barrages, digitised 90’s Italian Trance melodies, sped up reggaeton snare rushes & post-hard core vocal manipulation. Despite the range of elements in play, there is still a clear aesthetic red thread present - the rhythmic building blocks of the various genres referenced are sliced, distorted and re-arranged but never to such an extent that their dance-floor rending capabilities are compromised, whilst occasional flashes of melody and feedback laden shrieks help unravel each track. 

“Dark Millennium DJ Tool” deploys slowed down noise-charged kicks and ear piercing synthwork before switching into an 8-bar grime breakdown, whilst “Untitled EX4” takes the 150 BPM+ broken hardcore rhythmic template currently being established by the likes of Slickback and E-Sagglia and perforates it with howling feedback and Shackleton inspired percussive work. “Beef6” and “Bad Vein” melt power electronics fuelled drums into a post Latin-Perreo mis-en-scene – with “UMS303”  and “Video Green” providing moments of melodic introspection.
