Humanity is not very far from a cold, biomechanical future right now. So let Subcat set the mood for you with the title track ‘Hyenas’.

Horror pads and furious tom-rolls build momentum towards the drop, winding up the energy until the riff hits you like a concrete tsunami sponsored by gravity. The bass bounces around like a feral dog while the listener dislocates themselves to the rhythm. Once heard this one won’t be forgotten, and we don’t say that in every release copy like most labels.

Bringing up the B side, but still ruthlessly ‘Class A’ is ‘Flow’. Starting with tense soundscapes and pads, the drop wonks at you straight away and wonks furiously. Furious arpeggios permeate the track to give it a driving, stampeding momentum. Eyes on Subcat please, we only bring you the best.

Alongside the delicious aggressiveness that made Audio so renowned, his ‘Beastmode’ LP cracks him open like you’ve never heard him before. Fiercely powerful, yet intricately different, each cut from his debut album on the Ram Records imprint packs a very different punch whilst hitting with the same fierceness and wealth of talent.

‘Beastmode’ reflects all his output to date. Whether it’s the old-school flavor of virus, or the steppy-unapologetic riddims he’s served up for Ram, this record won’t leave you questioning who rules supreme over the genre’s murkier waters.

Whether it’s the half-time, two stepping ‘Move it Along’ or the pulsing, snarling undertones of ‘Thud’, you’re blessed with a barrage full of fresh sonic assaults. ‘Thunder Ridge’ serves as the perfect opener, a brand new record with synth-laddered foreboding intro which pushes you below the surf. Tinkling hi-hats and a distorted LFO adds shockwaves throughout the mix, submerging you even deeper. Urgent, pulsing and nastily crafted, this is Audio at his most fearsome.

On the other hand, ‘Rogue’ presents a clanking, runaway riddim that snaps its teeth with every break. Stacked between ominous build ups and jaunty samples, the second drop flairs out as angrily as the first, demonstrating Audio’s ingenious sound design.

And flipping the switch once again is ‘Sovereign’, a nod to the producer’s roots and a track that gradually builds its presence throughout. Between warbling stabs and peddled kick drum, you’re drawn by the aural nerves. Elevating beat patterns set you up for another descent into madness, through a stringently tight composition.

Featuring artists, such as drum &amp; bass heavyweight Prolix, also take center stage. Their collaboration ‘Creatures’, alongside the revered lyricist Nuklear MC, adds a welcomed surprise. ‘Creatures’ delivers everything you’d expect and more; steroid-pumped subs, the dark overture of Nuklear and apocalyptic atmospherics.

Also featured on its weighty track listing are singles ‘Make it Happen’, ‘Overdose’, ‘Drop it Human’ and ‘Shatterdome’. They were a precursor for what was to come, which signified one of the darkest, most uncompromising productions yet on Ram Records… In all of its twenty five years of history.

Back on that collab business, the boys in VC are once again skimming the delicious cream off the top of the dnb scene, and bringing you a tasty release of hard-hitting partnerships, featuring some new alliances, as well as some stellar remixes of previous tunes. 

The first two in the series saw some massive meetings of producer talents, with the lads teaming up with Wingz, Kyrist, Vowel, Philth, and many other big and emerging names in the scene. 

Vol. 3 is no different, be it the maxxed out neuro banger of 'Vobelord' with ABIS, or the slick, rolling sounds of 'Gully Tuckshop' with Primitive Instinct; the unique styles that emerge when two creative forces come together is undeniable. This release also sees them go head to head with the mighty Cruk on 'Bindipper', which as the name suggests is an absolute stinker! Philth returns again as a collaborator on 'Flags', a moody cut of deep, 4am tech. 

On remix duties, this release just gets silly. Kyrist puts her spin on the VC & Vowel track 'Dispersed', and takes it to a very dark, very nasty place. Creatures then steps in by reworking her collab 'Rolex' into a big, steppy slice of techy drum and bass. Two producers who continue to make a serious impact on the scene coming together, it was never gunna be anything less than absolutely ridiculous, and these tracks don't disappoint! 

This series continues to show the power of producers putting their brains & laptops together, as well as presenting a cross-section of the stupidly good talent overflowing from the scene at the minute! Not one to be missed for sure, this series is an essential arsenal of mental tunes for any dnb dj.

The sun was setting on the day, and as it did it painted the sky with a set of hues that matched the red rock sandstone upon which two pairs of spurred boots tread. With keen eyes and hands readied at their holsters, two desert roughened faces stared into the maw of the cliffside grotto that lay before them, steeling themselves for the deed that had brought them to this wild place. As they stood outside, their parched lips gave rise to gruff conversation in the last rays of the setting sun.

“Hey Sonny Jim…:
“Yeah Scruggs?”
“Let’s make this quick. Cattle won’t take too kindly to us bein’ gone ‘round nightfall, what with the kay-otes and all.”

With the assent of an “mmm hmm” from Sonny Jim, the pair burst into the grotto by the light of the moon’s first rays, assured in the knowledge that their plantoid quarry would be weaker under its reflective gaze. As moonlight fell upon the twisted forms in the cavern, the pair drew a pair of six shooters each, loaded with the selfsame rounds that they used to fell every other varmint in this wild land. In practiced tandem, the pair worked their way through the tendrils of the lesser vining monstrosities in the cavern, the muzzle flash of their six shooters illuminating the spurts of sappy ichor that erupted from the monster’s crumpling forms. In little time they stood before that self same massive varmint that had chased them from this land five months before, which loomed at the grotto’s center as the largest tree either had ever seen. It’s branches bore spined vines and oaken boughs alike, and from its barked seeped an acrid sap that sizzled as it fell upon the ground below. For this the pair had prepared as each drew a third revolver from his coat, loaded with bullets imbued with a poison made from the very land. Each unloaded all six shots with naught but a single word, and from the great plantoid behemoth a groaning, shuttering cry could be heard. The great beast withered, shrinking as it died, as did all of the lesser beings that had stood connected at its side. With collected pride Scruggs and Sonny Jim each blew from their weapons the smoky remnants of flame, knowing that through their prowess the ROOTS OF EVIL had been slain.

BURR OAK continue their ride as they lead the EATBRAIN horde further into neurofunk’s wild west with their ROOTS OF EVIL EP, the follow up to their previous release on EATBRAIN, February’s “Hawkeye” EP. Further exploring and growing upon the roots of their collaborative effort, The Clamps and Opsen once again team up as BURR OAK to deliver four tracks composed in their signature lawless style for EATBRAIN’s latest release.

The Budapest based DJ/producer, Liveon, is a core representer of the Neurofunk subgenre. 

The first real debut dates back to May, 2017 with a solo release, containing two tracks called ’Destruction & Domination’ and ’Discomfort’, released on AMC’s label ’Titan’.
Not long after this, his work was noticed by the Noisia, played his tune on their radio show, ’Noisia Radio’. Liveon has been featured on two VA compilations (Titan Goes To Let It Roll, Surface Pt. 4), with artists like Disprove, Current Value and Akov. 

His tracks have been played by a numerous names, including AMC, Misanthrop, DJ Hype, Malux, The Clamps and got support from the local representers of the drum and bass scene, like Mindscape, Jade and Chris.SU.

Since then, Liveon has performed several times, both in local club nights (Bladerunnaz), also world famous festivals as LET IT ROLL. 
This year the release of UFO Panic EP spreads the fresh Liveon sounds to you.
