The Livewire Album 2014 is the culmination of a week’s work in KJM studios over the Easter school holidays but also, more broadly, over a year’s worth of dedicated effort from the majority of the young artists on the CD.  With styles ranging from punk rock to hip-hop to indie pop, all the tracks on the album are original pieces composed by and with the performers.

Through a yearly cycle of three development weeks, weekly sessions and other outreach activities, the Livewire project provides workshops, gigs and other musical opportunities for around 200 young people of all abilities and experiences aged 12-25 across Herefordshire and beyond.

It is a project run by The Music Pool, Herefordshire's community music charity, and funded by The National Foundation for Youth Music.

All payments for the album will be taken as donations to The Music Pool and will go back into the Livewire project to help provide further opportunities for young musicians.

Livewire promotes gigs, workshops, training opportunities and music development weeks for young people in and around Herefordshire.

The project is managed by The Music Pool, Herefordshire's community music charity and principally funded by Youth Music.

'Livewire Central' (music development weeks) offers young people aged 13+ the opportunity to work with professional artists and gives participants the chance to:
- Improve their musical skills and try something new, for newly formed bands and individuals, as well as more experienced artists
- Take part in a public performance at one of Hereford's most popular music venues, The Jailhouse, in a supervised, alcohol-free environment.  With further performance opportunities at other locations, including Nozstock Festival.
- Receive coaching in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Music Production, Rap, DJing, Scratching, lyric writing and song composition.

It also provides volunteer opportunities, to people aged 18-25 years, to shadow professional artists, work as a mentor or trainee music leader, and gain experience in marketing/promotion and event management.
