q. pls introduce yourself
a. hello! i'm max, a new zealand-born dj based in london.

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. my aim was to evoke a descent into a strange and enticing dream. i recorded in fragments over a week and weaved it together with attention to flow and inflection points.
(heads up, there is some explicit content in the mix)

q. what’s the best way to enjoy your mix?
a. in a still and quiet place.

q. describe a favorite object in your living room...
a. a humble coffee table that regulates most of our living room activities, moving wherever and carrying whatever needed.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
a. i produce "many worlds": a collaborative mix series with a focus on contemporary ambient music and sound design. i also organise regular dance music events in west london with the sunflower dance collective (sdc), and am looking ahead to our next series of forest parties this summer.

What a dream to play before the insanely talented & lovely HUNTRESS (https://soundcloud.com/hushhuntress) and LCN (@lucyproduction). Really enjoyed going from 95bpm to 135bpm, and how much the crowd was there with me for it. Big thanks @plantainchipps for including me in such a memorable night x

q. pls introduce yourself:
a. Hi, my name is Tony, I'm a psychotherapist in NYC who loves making mixes . I also love to make clothing and sometimes my own music. I'm a massive fan of the Living Room series and have been a listener since day one. Very excited to share my mix with you all.

q. is there a story behind the mix? 
a. Every song in this one is very special to me. The mix took a few different shapes until I settled on this sequence. There's a lot of voice, a lot of different languages. There are many stories.

q. what’s the best way to enjoy your mix? 
a. This would be best enjoyed on headphones, walking outside. It's best for around 11 am walk, but perhaps the night would be nice as well, haven't tried that yet.

q. describe a favourite object in your living room... 
a. My favorite object right now in my living room is my 1855 Edition of Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman, I read it every day and it has become a sort of religion to me.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)? 
a. I'm currently writing a dark fantasy / philosophy novel inspired by Borges and Medieval Christian Mysticism. It's taken most of my time so I'm pretty much only doing that, not working on any music projects at the moment.

‘Me and Dan recorded this one on a Saturday arvo in my sunroom. We’ve been recording mixes for about 5 years now, so the way we put them together has become pretty intuitive. This one is just a continuation of what we’ve always done – playing music we both love and not overthinking it’.

there are rooms within me
that no one ever enters.
not even I —
except in sleep,
when the locks loosen,
when memory forgets it should forget.

i walk their thresholds barefoot,
where the dust rises like breath
and the silence is not absence
but a sound too old to name.

here lie the versions of myself
i could never endure —
the frightened child,
the human who loved too little,
the one who watched the world burn
and called it weather.

i do not mourn them.
but neither do i let them go.
they linger in the wallpaper,
in the hum of static between thoughts,
like forgotten gods
waiting to be remembered
or forgiven.

each morning, i seal the doors again,
pretend the house is whole.
but some days —
on the cusp of waking —
i hear them moving,
quietly rearranging the furniture
of who i am.
