This special Livity Room session presents a unique combination of modern and traditional music, featuring Demba and his father, Layba Diawara. Demba connects the present with his digital music (DJ), while Layba represents the ancient griot tradition with his kora (African harp) playing. In their family, music is passed down from generation to generation, with melodies and stories at the core. The collaboration between Demba and Layba was a challenging yet beautiful process, in which they managed to blend traditional and modern music through a selective music selection that bridges the two.

The session opens with an acoustic kora piece by Layba titled "Kairaba" a tribute to the recently deceased Toumani Diabaté for his unique way of playing this piece. Diabaté was a true master of the kora and had a profound influence on the griot tradition.

In this session, everything comes together: the rhythms of the future meet the sounds of the past, creating a musical encounter that honors the power of the griot tradition and allows it to live on in a new form.
