This Land Is Your Land

Liz Vice, a Portland native who you will more often find behind a mic or camera on a film shoot, has worked in visual story-telling for over five years, working on various productions including the popular television show, Portlandia; a feature film, The A- List; and experience at the advertising firm, Wieden and Kennedy.  Most recently Vice has been recognized for her musical talent on the local music scene, including a show-stealing opening set recently for St. Paul & the Broken Bones at Wonder Ballroom as part of the Soul’d Out Festival.

Vice’s powerful debut album, There’s a Light on Deeper Well records, was recorded almost entirely live to analog tape during the spring and summer of 2013 in Portland. The album, a gospel-fueled nod to the R&B / soul records of the 60′s and 70′s, is modern enough not to be “throw back,” but classically influenced enough to feel timeless.

Liz Vice is passionate and has overcome many personal obstacles; she credits her adventurous life to not forcing anything and being available. "It's all about risk, and taking risk is never regretful…well, mostly."

Smells Like Teen Cover

Last year was a rough one. As it's been said before, New York City can be a lonely place. This year I decided to explore the city more as well as focus on falling in love with music again; no strings attached. 

Some one told me about this Barry Harris workshop and so I decided to give it a try. I fell in love and something I look forward to each Tuesday when I'm in NYC. 

Some tracks have mistakes but that's the beauty of falling in love with something; you are always learning how to best take care of it and be open to learning new things. 

I've met some pretty amazing people as well. Each Tuesday I try to upload clips on my instagram stories so that other people can get a taste of this magic.
