IMAGINATION est un groupe d'électro-funk créé par Leee John Ashley Ingram et Errol Kennedy à Londres en 1981.
Leee John est élevé à New York City où il fait des chœurs pour les Delfonics et les Chairmen Of The Board. Détecté par Trevor Horn, il rencontre Ashley Ingram lors d'une audition et ils forment ensemble le duo Fizz. De retour en Angleterre ils rencontrent Errol Kennedy, le batteur du groupe américain Midnight Express, avec lequel ils vont créer le trio funk Imagination. 
Le nom IMAGINATION est un hommage à l'une des plus célèbres chansons de John Lennon : "Imagine".
Le premier album "Body Talk" en 1981 connaît un succès immédiat mais leurs plus gros hits restent "Just An Illusion" (classé n° 2 au Royaume-Uni et au Top 10 un peu partout dans le monde et extrait de leur deuxième album "In The Heat Of The Night" en 1982 avec "Music and Lights".
En 1983 sortie de l'album "Scandalous" qui marquera le retrait du groupe. Cet album contient cependant "Looking At Midnight" "New Dimension" et "State Of Love", morceaux d'un certain succès.
Leee John prend un break en 1984 pour se consacrer à la comédie et à la télévision. Le groupe sort en fin d'année "Thank You My Love", qui aura un succès d'estime en Angleterre et en France. Les titres suivants : "Found My Girl" "Last Days Of Summer" et "Sunshine", seront malheureusement un bide commercial.
En 1986, le groupe accouche l'album "Trilogy" qui devait s'appeler à l'origine "The Key". 
La chanson ayant été retirée de l'album, c'est le slow "Trilogy" qui donnera son nom à l'album.
En 1987, le groupe s'exile aux États-Unis et s'entoure de producteurs de renom : Nick Martinelli, Preston Glass, Ron Kersey. "Closer" sort cette année-là et "Instinctual" deviendra un tube au niveau des clubs. À noter sur cet album, la participation du saxophoniste Kenny G sur la chanson "The Last Time", premier single issue de l'album. Suivront "I Know What Love Is" "Instinctual" et "Hold Me In Your Arms". 
C'est durant cette période que Errol Kennedy quitte le groupe. 
Il sera remplacé par Peter Royer.
En 1989, le groupe réarrange ses tubes pour sortir l'album "Like It Is". À l'issue de cet album, Ashley Ingram, l'âme musicale du groupe s'en va et travaillera comme producteur de Des'ree entre autres.
L'album sorti en 1992, "The Fascination Of The Physical" reste anecdotique. À partir de cette date le trio ne sortira plus que des compilations, puis se séparera en 1995.
Mes sur ce mélange je me suis intéresser au dos d’Imagination et non à leurs succès commerciaux, plusieurs morceaux que j’ai passé dans les clubs.

Here is my cover version of the massive hit "Shout" by Tears for Fears.
released as a single in 1984, and is the first song on Tears for Fears' second album, Songs from the Big Chair.
In my opinion one of the best bands of the 80s......Enjoy
