If you want to be as helpful as possible to someone who is grieving - avoid using some of the following sentiments. 

Don't tell someone they will feel better soon or that time is a healer. Don't give them advice about what they should or shouldn't do. 

The best way to support someone is to listen and to connect. You don't always need to talk, giving simple gifts or offering practical support can be really valuable.
