BEAT81 RIDE (Indoor Cycling Playlists)

"I am asking you again, do you want to be the surprise gig at our team event?" - and here we were, only three weeks and one word away from my dreams. So I jumped into the deep end and eventually had the honor to play my very first gig at Hüttenbar Floor at the infamous Ritter Butzke Club in Berlin.

Für die 12. Episode mit Domi aka. @dohus in der Kaduka Bar in Berlin-Neukölln getroffen. Wie immer geht es zunächst um musikalische Anfänge und Inspirationen, dabei wird schnell klar, wie vielseitig und leidenschaftlich mein Gast bei der Sache ist: wir sprechen über die Liebe zum Vinyl und die Aktivität im @dasvinylwohnzimmer Kollektiv, sowie über seine Vergangenheit im Graffiti und die Open Air Veranstaltungen mit der Cura Crew. Ihr erfahrt, was ein Arzt in der Griessmühle mit Domi’s Anfängen in der elektronischen Musik zu tun hat und wieso er selbst einmal die Polizei bei einem seiner illegalen Raves rufen musste. Wir hören in seine noch unveröffentlichten, wundervoll treibend-melodischen Tracks rein und befassen uns mit der Frage, warum es immer noch so wenig Frauen in der Musikproduktion gibt. You will get around quickly how versatile and passionate my guest is: we talk about the love for vinyl and his activities in the collective Das Vinyl Wohnzimmer as well as his graffiti past and open air events with the Cura crew. Find out what a doctor in Griessmühle has to do with Domi's beginnings in electronic music and why he once had to call the police at one of his illegal raves. Für die 14. Betterlizzen Podcast-Folge habe ich mich mit @dasmaer getroffen. Die elektronische Indie Band besteht aus dem Sänger @johasnon und den beiden Produzenten und DJs @brascon und @yannekmaunz. Uns verbindet Freundschaft und Musik tatsächlich schon einige Jahre, aber da 2022 mit der Veröffentlichung ihres ersten Albums “Momoko” ein sehr besonderes für sie ist, wurde schnell klar, dass wir jetzt viel Gesprächs- und Musikstoff für eine gemeinsame Podcast-Episode haben. Wir erfahren, wie sich das Trio einst kennengelernt hat, welche Ausreißer es in der Albumproduktion gab und wo es für sie mal hingehen soll. Hört in eine Episode voller Leidenschaft, höchstem künstlerisch-kreativen Beitrag und Quatsch-Geschnatter, und vielleicht auch, wie diese Merkmale durch alle drei Mitglieder abwechselnd vertreten werden und dadurch eine ganz eigene Energie entsteht. Letztes Jahr irgendwie gegen Windmühlen gekämpft, aber die Fahne hochgehalten – und während ich á la Ski Alpin durch die roten Flaggen navigierte, gemerkt: seelisch und körperlich gerade an ‘nem Tiefpunkt. Ich durfte mal wieder spürbar feststellen, dass das System und unsere Gesellschaft hinterfragenden, lauten und integeren Menschen nicht gerade den Po pudert. 👅

Und nun? Zurück ins Büro? Liebesbrief ans Finanzamt? Wieder in eine WG? 🥸 Berlin hatte auf all meine Fragen keine Antworten. Also: Pause. Tapetenwechsel. Dank monetärer Relikte meines 25-jährigen Business-Ich’s (danke, Schnatti!) ging’s nach Thailand – nur mit meinem Rucksack. Ein Ziel, dass schon seit Jahren diverse Gastauftritte in meinen Träumen und Tagebüchern hatte.

Kurz vorm Abflug kickte nochmal so richtig die Anxiety. Ich kann doch nicht einfach gehen? Was soll das überhaupt mit Asien? Warum auch schon wieder janz alleine die Nummer? Während die Stewardess mich fragte, was ich trinken möchte, schoss durch meinen Kopf der Boomer-Fragenkatalog von A-Z …

Und dann:
Landung in Bangkok.

Im Postfach plötzlich eine E-Mail:

“8. Februar bei uns auf dem Hüttenfloor – wie sieht’s aus?”

LIZZN releases her debut single "Nacht," a track that explores the theme of letting go of what no longer serves, only to spiral into a whirlwind of excess without knowing when to stop. Driven by a pounding and propulsive bassline, her own German vocals in a raw, magnetic energy, the song captures the push and pull of freedom and losing control.
