I felt that basement floor was all we knew
yeah it was cold hard times when we were younger
and though it maybe skewed we made it through 
and looking back it made us grow up that much stronger

that kind of empty hollow pain and struggle,

I look back now in awe and wonder 
all the lil basic things we take for granted
you could barely hear a storm rumble of the thunder
over stomachs growling loud from all the hunger
But we got more life inside us both man
than anyone else could ever even fathom
because we felt the hell of home and all the darkness
I always wonder how life could be so fuckin heartless

yeah we grew up holes in shoes and dirt floor poor
Canned meat stealing from the grocery store
we were pre-teen living with no love or guidance
people seem to like to judge and ride up on their a high horse
but we climbed the chain and now we're dropping all the knowledge
betcha only kids on block that went to college
all grown up now and kids of our own
always taking time to catch up on the telephone
