Code used for a recursion challenge as well as the OST Composing Jam.

The name Sendoff was to represent a game where  the protagonist is running away but tells people that they were sent off. Problem with this tale is the entities that made them runaway are still chasing them.

Lurking in the shadows
no matter the path that you chose
don't know where you belong
but the entitles hunting don't care about right or wrong
Funny thing is, you have not seen what is chasing
and that is what makes the heart keep pacing
the body feel it has to still be escaping

Send Off - 4 Minute Version - OST Composing Jam #4

For the first Decibels Challenge, the dataset provided was from https://theglobaljukebox.org/, in particular the following CSV:

Sonification Steps

Started by checking what the data had in store, especially concerning what cultures were heavily represented by the data

Did this by cleaning the data in Python that can be seen in the first portion of code

Followed by the sonification in SonicPi

Sonification Steps

While cleaning the data in Python, I decided to make 8 CSV Files representing

1 for each of the  6 Continents

1 for the Space Agencies

1 for the total launches in the world

For the Sonification in Sonic Pi, I decided to track the frequency of all the countries and agencies that participated in a launch.  With the earlier cleaning, this was done per region and in intervals of four (simulating the Olympics)

There are three distinct sounds in the 8 Sonifications

Originally the sounds included the bd dub sound

Then for the next set, that sound was replaced with a drone-type sound

For the world launches, the sounds are still in intervals but they are also pitched to represent the higher frequency of launches per year

For the third Decibels Challenge, the prompt for data is personal data. I decided to use data from 10 workouts I did and use SonicPi to sonify the process and Python to clean it up.

Wanted the sounds to represent the various stages a heart goes through in a workout. Which explains some of the chaotic tension/feeling that can be heard in this track
