Dusty Vinyls on Mars by Andxwaves is a lofi urban jazz odyssey through the red planet’s endless landscapes. I also wanted a mix of this song that was just like the original song called C Jam. I had a feeling that organ mixed with the piano would work, and it did - Abel did an incredible job augmenting the piano melody and creating a cool solo as well. I left one of Steve Giddings guitar solos in here as it just was too good to leave out of any version of this song and it added a nice contrast to the organ and piano. I didn't mention Rafael before but his bass really popped against the Hammond Organ creating a nice funky solo section and his bass playing throughout the song was perfect and much better than the basic keyboard bass part that I would have laid down.

Hi everyone! 🙌 This time we're moving from the lightness of Chiptune (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/pink-chubby-creature) to something more reflective, something that concerns most of us, or at least those lucky (or unlucky) enough to live long enough to grow old. This song was inspired by a visit to a retirement home. Musically, it's kind of the spiritual child of our previous track "I lost her to a previous version of me" (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/i-lost-her-to-a-previous).
👉"Now and Here" is a meditation on aging, presence, and how quickly everything slips through our fingers. It starts in the softness of awareness and builds into a cry for recognition, for meaning, for being seen while there’s still time. We’ve all met someone who used to shine and now barely gets noticed. Maybe we fear becoming that person ourselves.
No fancy tricks here. Just lyrics that hit close to home and a melody that carries them with honesty. It’s a piece for those who’ve ever looked back and wondered where the time went, or forward and felt a chill.
