War of the Monochrome is a song i made for Check X Mate, an upcoming chess puzzle game with visual novel elements by Sliced Kiwi Studios!

About the song:
I was asked to make a memorable battle theme for the chess puzzle sections of the game, so i wanted to do my best to make the song feel like it could fit a wide variety of situations and game difficulties, gradually building up from a relatively more bombastic intro to more melodical sections, but with plenty of intermissions inbetween, in my opinion, this would fit the more difficult chezz puzzles in the gameplay because you'd be listening to the song for longer if you are struggling
I went for some progressive time signature choices, and also went with some more key changes than usual because i felt like it could help with giving the song more of an unique identity
In terms of inspirations, i would say that Rei Kondoh's works were in my head a lot when i was in the planning phases of this song

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (悪魔城ドラキュラX 血の輪廻 Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo) is a platform-adventure video game developed by Konami for the PC Engine CD. It is set in the fictional universe of the Castlevania series, where the protagonist Richter Belmont goes to save his lover Annette, who was abducted by Dracula. It was released in Japan on October 29, 1993. A direct sequel to it, the critically acclaimed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, was released in 1997. Castlevania: Dracula X, known as Akumajou Dracula XX (悪魔城ドラキュラXX) in Japan and Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss in Europe, was developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. While the plot is similar to Rondo of Blood and it uses many of the latter's graphics and music, it featured a different art style, redesigned levels, and altered gameplay elements (such as having only two alternate levels and Maria as a nonplayable character).
