It’s hard to describe what ‘Loafer’ sounds like because in 2k14 “genre-bending” is a pretty contrived adjective.

Maybe it’s what would happen if Jai Paul lived in Coburg or Brunswick, or if FKA Twigs only listened to 90s Hip Hop and Aussie Jangle.  Whatever you think they sound like the boys in Loafer probably don’t care.

The entire project just feels insanely effortless. Henry Jenkins (The Cactus Channel/Jnbo) hooks up the beats. His down tempo grooves sit in that sweet spot between electronic and acoustic. Tully Ross’ (former/current badass) drawl saunters and sways over Jenkins angular production in a wholly personal and intimate way.

So how do we describe Loafer? The beats are written for space, the songs are written for the bedroom. Maybe where they intersect is a dark bedroom covered in those glow-in-the-dark stickers of stars, planets and moons. Enjoy.

Tully Ross and Henry Jenkins are old friends who took about a year of saying they would to actually writing music together. The creative process is slow and easy, the boys aren’t in a hurry, they just send each other ideas when they can and then occasionally link up and put the finishing touches on together. 2k14 sees the release of their debut self-titled EP.
