Bête Imaginaire’s ‘On the Beach’ fuses dubby warehouse techno with heartfelt incisions like raving in a daytime warehouse with sunlight seeking to pierce the blackened windows. The Frenchmen’s superb production is on full display by blending the sound of waves, as white noise in the midst of a rhythmic drive with unadulterated percussion and 4/4 overdriven beats. There is a raw emotive element… a calm before the storm, except you’re well past the calm.

PREMIERE: Bête Imaginaire - On The Beach (LB004)

Hazed and Confucius is a group of House, Lo-Fi House/Techno lovers based in Seoul, South Korea. Their goal is to spread and share their love of music through various parties, broadcasts and compilation albums with their guests and friends.
In their second compilation VA002, HZDCFC invites their friends to share their stories. Di Barsotti (Novaj 新し, France) reveal their love of Asia, DJ Spielberg and DJ Legwarmer (No, She doesn’t, Portugal) dig through Korean records, while KAZUHO and Romy Mats (N.O.S, Japan) criticize Japan’s strict regulation of night clubs. HZDCFC VA002 also contains tracks from local Korean talent DJ Bowlcut, Jae Young, Anchore and Monika who all contribute warm and hazy house tracks.

Dutch producer POLEJAM kicks off 2019 with his debut EP on Boston, Massachusetts label, hadtodoit records. This vinyl-only label with previous releases from Lo-Fi house staples, Slim Hustla & DOS, continues their hazy & nostalgia inducing sound with their third release from POLEJAM.  Lead track, ‘Regular’, warms you up with a steady 4 to the floor beat, melodic synth loop and hypnotizing vocal sample, giving it a crisp and groovy feel. The third track ‘LES’ has a 90’s sitcom theme song vibe. As you reminisce about the 90’s with its emotional piano & guitar riff loop, POLEJAM shows off his sense of rhythm with an afro percussion breakdown towards the end of the track. Feature track, ‘Back When’ takes you back to simpler times of getting faded and skateboarding with your friends till the late night hours. The pulsating synth loop and punchy bassline give you a sense of time travel. Accompanied by various synth percussions ‘Back When’ has a nice groove helping you navigate through your flashback to those simple and great times.
