With this mix Heidi asks to please learn more about and consider donating to: I would love to highlight a new initiative called Synth Library NYC that I am helping to launch, together with the talented Brooklyn sound artist Cy X.  Synth Library NYC will open in May 2021 as a community education and music hub providing access to synthesizers, modular gear, recording equipment and other electronic musical instruments for people of all experience levels with priority access to BIPOC and those of marginalized genders.  Individuals will be able to ‘check-out’ an instrument and take it home for 3 weeks, just like one would borrow a book from the public library. Synth Library NYC also plans to have virtual and in-person workshops, synth meet ups, collaborative performances and other engagement activities to foster connection and help encourage those with less experience. We are grateful to be consulting with the founders of Fem Synth Lab in Los Angeles who have paved the way in this concept of community building, and Powrplnt, a network of Brooklyn artists dedicated to providing equal access to digital arts education, where we are currently residents. In 2020, Mell G dropped out of law studies to pursue music full-time and hasn't looked back since. For good reason too—she's far too busy for any potential regret. Over the past three years, the Hamburg-based artist launched JUICY GANG RECORDS, switched up her DJing style from ghettotech to electro, began touring and started producing. Her year-and-a-half old label is now a go-to source for brazen, bouncy club bangers and her refocused, electro-heavy sound has led to bookings alongside DJ Stingray, Pearson Sound and other heavy-hitters.

The rising star is certainly having a moment, yet it hasn't been all smooth sailing. These sudden career ascents can be tricky to navigate emotionally and her upcoming debut album ISSUES expresses some of the mental health struggles she's faced along the way.

Her RA Podcast is similarly personal. Moving from retro synthwave to acid-laced techno to UK bass before ending on funky electro, it embodies the core sounds that are near and dear to her. Loaded with lots of gritty low-end frequencies, it's a thrilling ride across contemporary club music that cements her status as an in-demand DJ.

Audrey Danza (@audreydanza) is a DJ, producer, and the mastermind behind Proxima, a label and event series dedicated to bringing timeless beauty into the present. A resident at Motel Campo since 2019 and a frequent guest at iconic venues like Panorama Bar and Berghain, Audrey’s refined selections channel the psychedelic and ecstatic essence of early trance, infusing classic influences with a contemporary edge.

Through Proxima, she not only reissues ‘90s vinyl gems but also curates new club music, fostering a dialogue between tradition and innovation. Her EP "Flora Formulas," showcases her evolving production style, blending organic and synthetic textures into three immersive tracks designed for the dancefloor’s early hours.

With an ever-expanding sonic vision, Audrey continues to craft distinctive sound spaces, both in her productions and performances, pushing boundaries while staying rooted in dance music’s rich history.

Aurora Halal is a producer, DJ and creator of Brooklyn’s influential Mutual Dreaming party series & the Sustain-Release festival.

Shadowy and psychedelic, her hardware live & DJ sets have a hazy sensuality and metallic dance floor intensity that’s at turns playful, dark, euphoric and emotionally vulnerable. In all her projects, she treats dance music as an are­na for trans­for­ma­tion and since 2010, her events have been root­ed in an under­ground, DIY approach that push­es for­ward-think­ing sounds, pro­duc­tion, and ideas. She’s spent the last 10 years tour­ing like-mind­ed clubs, raves, and fes­ti­vals world­wide and gained a rep­u­ta­tion for pow­er­ful, unique per­for­mances that work both the body and mind. She’s 4 years into a res­i­den­cy at NYC’s Nowa­days, is a reg­u­lar at Berghain and pre­vi­ous­ly De School.

We are super excited for this week’s LT Podcast as we are joined by NYC-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Heidi Sabertooth who played with us in the last Lobster party in Brooklyn, early May.

Heidi's been creating her unique brand of avant electronics since 2012 and she shares it with the world on her Newtown Radio show Deep Dive and her Techno Support Group residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club. Her highly lauded live hardware performances and vinyl-heavy DJ sets have cemented her own place among NYC’s techno community and beyond, sharing the stage with the likes of DJ Spider, Ellen Allien, Broken English Club, Umwelt and more. Upcoming releases on Kraftjerkz and Serotonin, as well as a collaboration with NYC experimental folk duo Opal Onyx due on Tin Angel Records.

In this mix, Heidi’s love and passion for hardware and the full spectrum of techno and grittier sounds weave refreshingly throughout. Full of bouncing electronics, raw unwavering beats and oscillating synth lines this one is an absolute must listen, a tribute to lovers of late night techno everywhere.
