Russian duo Doyeq, the least known of the talents here, who deliver the most experimental of the efforts. They spend long minutes in nearly ambient sections with only the bassline anchoring the groove before stepping forwards into a fuller, darker house groove with haunting vocals controlling the mood.

Poland’s Catz ‘N’ Dogz line up the next 12” on their blooming PETS sub-label STEP. With previous releases from the guys themselves, Eduardo De Le Calle and Das Komplex - they now bring a fresh signee into the fold in the form of 96 And Forever Records affiliate Baltra. 

Baltra has garnered a fervent following through his intricate and evocative productions that marry bold drums with delicate melodies. Staying true to form, the New York based artist presents his ‘Sophia’ EP - a scuzzy two-track EP built around his common thematic anchor of love, passion and relationships. 

Mixed to tape, the record carries a raw, tangible quality and kicks off with ‘Lookin 4 Love’. Fizzing 909s are driven through soft, circling synth tones and sultry spoken vocals before ‘Over Again’ melds tricky drum programming with clipped, moody vocal samples that cap off another fine addition to the STEP series - the second record from an artist firmly on his ascent
